This afternoon, San Marino’s entry for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest was presented live from Paris for the first time along with the official music video.
Revealed today during a press conference at Le Grand Hotel in Paris, the internally selected Sammarinese representative, Serhat, unveiled his entry to the public for the first time alongside SMRTV’s Director General, Carlo Romeo, together with the Creative Director of the Sammarinese entry, Manfred Thierry Mugler.
The official music video for the entry, entitled I didn’t know and directed by Mugler, also made its premiere this afternoon in the press conference. Listen to the 2016 Sammarinese entry below!
Speaking of San Marino’s entry, Romeo stated:
We are very happy to have Serhat representing the Republic of San Marino in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. We’ve been sharing this path together now for a couple of months and we’ve already seen some fruits from our efforts. This amazing video clip is an example of that and I would like to thank Manfred Thierry Mugler and his staff for this splendid artistry.
Now we begin the second part of our journey that will lead us to Stockholm. As always, we will do it with the strongest commitment, determination and with the desire to give our very best.
Back in January, San Marino’s national broadcaster SMRTV confirmed that Turkish singer Serhat had been internally selected to represent the micro-nation at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
With a multinational dream team behind him, Serhat flew out to Belgium last month in order to record I didn’t know which was penned and produced by Turkish composer Olcayto Ahmet Tugsuz and Greek songwriter Nektarios Tyrakis.
Singing in English on the Eurovision stage, Serhat has also recorded the Sammarinese entry in both Italian and French.
San Marino will compete in the first semi-final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest on the 10 May at the Globen Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. How do you think Serhat will fare in the competition?
