The very first Dutch national final in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in the AVRO TV studios in Hilversum where the contest would be held in 1958. Karin Kraaykamp hosted the show. Three singers took part with Jetty Pearl and Corrie Brokken singing three songs each and Bert Visser who presented just two songs. The winner was chosen by postcard voting: The 6694 counted postcards already showed interest among the audience.
