Biography
Conny van den bos (born 16-01-1937 as Cornelia Hollestelle, she changed her stagename to Conny Vandenbos in 1968 as "van den Bos" was de name of her ex-husband) started her career in the early-60s, already entering the Dutch final for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962 with Zachtjes. What didn't happen then, happened 3 years later and Conny found herself on the Eurovision stage with Het Is Genoeg. While not a big success at the Eurovision Song Contest nor in the Dutch charts it started her hugely successful Dutch career that continued with hits like Ik Ben Gelukkig Zonder Jou (covered some years later by 1970, 1977 and 1982 Dutch final entrant Bonnie St. Claire), Een Roosje, M'n Roosje and Sjakie Van De Hoek. She also duetted successfully with people as diverse as Janis Ian and Dutch presenter Wim Rijken. In recent years Conny has retired from singing and started presenting for the regional radio station Radio M (former Omroep Utrecht) and the national radio station Radio Noordzee Nationaal.
Joke van Soest originally was credited as lyricist. Later it came out that not Joke but her husband Karel Prior wrote the lyrics. Karel Prior was on the selecting-comittee for the Dutch final and therefore he didn't want his name to be credited.
