Biography
Giancarlo Chiaramello conducted a lot of orchestras over the years for several recordings of classical music. Quite surprisingly he cracked some European singles charts in the early-90's, when Luciano Pavarotti released his 1979 version of O Sole Mio! as a follow-up to his hit Caruso. On Sole Mio! Luciano was accompanied by the National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Chiaramello.
Although Marianne wasn't a hit for Sergio Endrigo himself, it became a big hit, when Cliff Richard (UK 1968 and 1973) recorded an English version of the song that charted throughout Europe.
