Biography
Silver Convention consisted for the Eurovision Song Contest of Penny McLean, Rhonda Heath and Ramona Wolf. Originally the group was composed of some session singers, assembled by Silvester Levay and Michael Kunze, two German producers. It was Silvester's nickname Silver that gave the group its name. This session group had big European hits in the mid-70s with songs like Save Me and Fly, Robin, Fly. When the latter hit also reached the number one spot in the USA, new songs had to be cut. That is where Penny, Linda and Ramona came in. Their voices can be heard on the 1976 hit Get Up And Boogie (That's Right). A song that was competing in the charts with Penny McLean's second solo single 1, 2, 3, 4, Fire, the follow-up to the highly successful 1975 hit Lady Bump. Linda G. Thompson stayed with Silver Convention till after the Eurovision Song Contest, but was replaced then by Rhonda Heath.
Silvester Levay (of German origin) went on to work with Giorgio Moroder and wrote songs for Donna Summer and was the arranger for movies like Flashdance and Scarface.
