Biography
Maxi and Chris Garden, a mother and daughter team, have been active in music for some time. Chris began playing the piano at the age of nine and by 13 had written her first composition. She plays keyboard in a rock group and has just released an album of her best songs. Daughter Max also began piano lessons at nine and plays guitar, flute, drums, accordion and organ.
Ralph Siegel and Dr. Bernd Meinunger, co-writers of the 1982 winning "Ein Bißchen Frieden", collaborated again for "Lied Für Einen Freund". Ralph, whose father Ralph Maria was also a composer (see Germany 1957), began playing the drums at six and subsequently spent time in Paris, Nashville and New York, perfecting his skills. He has already written over 1000 songs. Lyricist Dr. Bernd Meinunger was formerly an economist. He left that field in 1976 to concentrate on song writing and became an overnight success. He has written for most of Germany's top artists.
Michael Thatcher comes from California and worked with Tony Scott and Art Farmer before becoming Musical Director for a Hamburg production of "Godspell". He has arranged and produced records for Donna Summer, Gitte Haenning and Mireille Mathieu. He writes for film and television and tours as an accompanist/conductor for Howard Carpendale, Katja Ebstein and Julia Migenes. [Notes from the Official 1988 Programme by RTÉ]
