Biography

Marianna Efstratiou was born in Athens and at the age of eight commenced her piano lessons. She graduated from the German High School of Athens and then attended Cologne Music Academy, studying classical music, rhythmic dance, classical voice and music therapy for six years. In 1983, she performed in front of a 90,000 audience at the Olympic Stadium of Athens. Her first single "Talk about Love" was released in 1985, followed by an LP recorded in Memphis, Tennessee. Following her participation in the 1987 Eurovision Song Contest as part of the group Bang!, she performed at the Paris Olympia. In 1988 Marianna signed with Polygram Records.

Yiannis Kyris was born in Athens. He was 15 when he first participated in a rock concert. Since 1980 he has been running his own recording studio, where he has produced more than 150 singles, using high technology in composition and production. From 1985 to 1987 he worked exclusively on producing his own compositions for three records.

Villy Sanianou was born in Athens and has studied classical ballet and theatre. She has published a collection of poetry and has won two awards. As a songwriter she has worked with Costas Hadjis, Costas Karalis, Lakis Papadopaulos and Christian Leibl.

Giorgos Niachros was born in Athens where he studied piano and theory at the National Conservatory. At the Vienna Conservatory he studied harmony and conducting. He has been conductor for Athens' most prestigious theatres and for the ERT-1 light music orchestra since 1976. This is his 3rd appearance. [Notes from the Official 1989 programme]
