Biography
Birthe Kjær is one of Denmark's most poupular vocalists and recently celebrated her 20th recording anniversary. She has made 18 LPs and 35 singles. She almost won the Danish Song Contest twice; the third time proved lucky. On stage she will be backed by vocalists Lei and Lupe Moe.
The lyrics for "Vi maler byen rød" were penned by singer and writer Keld Heick. He is 43 years old and intended becoming a teacher. Instead, he has been doing shows in Denmark for more than 20 years, and this is the sixth time his lyrics have won the Danish Song Contest. When he is not writing, he tours Denmark and sings with his wife Hilda.
The music for the Danish entry was written by Søren Bundgård. Søren has represented Denmark at several previous Eurovision Song Contests as a singer of Hot Eyes. He also runs a recording studio in Copenhagen.
38-year old Henrik Krosgård will be conducting the Eurovision Song Contest Orchestra for Denmark's song. Henrik writes musicals, and is currently preparing one of Denmark's best-known summer revues, The Cirkus Revue, where he is musical director. [Notes from the Official 1989 programme]
