Biography
The history of this artist begins in Lapland beyond the Arctic Circle's snowy lands where Kaija Kärkinen was born and where she has developed a natural talent for musical and recitative art. She gave up university to attend a drama college where she began her career as an actress. She has been working for some time both as an actress and as a singer, but the enthusiasm provoked by the nomination to represent Finland at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest decidedly lured her towards music.
Ile Kallio played in his first band at 14. He studied music for several years and in the seventies he became lead guitarist in Finland's number one rock band: the Hurricanes. He is very popular both in Scandinavia and in England and since the early eighties he decided to work as a soloist and a composer. He is now tackling the Eurovision Song Contest challenge for the first time. [Notes from the Official 1991 Programme by RAI]
