For the first time ever, the Icelandic representative was selected internally by RUV. Björgvin 'Bo' Halldórsson tried to represent his countries on almost every occasion before finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th in 1986, 4th, 5th and 8th in 1987, 5th in 1988, 4th in 1989, 3rd and 4th in 1990 and 3rd in 1992.
