Biography
Davor Popovic was born in Sarajevo in 1946. Singing first of all with the Pauci band in 1961, he shot to national stardom three years later as the lead singer of Indexi who were the first rock 'n' roll band in his home city. Over the past 30 years they have released many singles and have toured to packed venues around the country.
Also born in Sarajevo Zlatan Fazlic studied journalism and went on to compose music for features and animation films, as well as writing songs for many pop and rock performers. In 1992 the war in Sarajevo temporarily separated Zlatan from his songs when he reported from the front line for two years.
Sinan Alimanovic was born in 1954 in Pristina. Graduating from the Music Academy, he worked as a pianist and conductor for the local radio and television orchestra before joining the Sarajevo Big Band which he has conducted since 1991. He has written for film and television and plays in a jazz quartet. [Notes from the Official 1995 programme by RTÉ]
