Biography
Mike Spiteri started singing at the age of 14. After he was approached to lead a rock group, his television appearances and live performances around the island established Mike in the rock music scene. He secured a contract to perform in a luxury hotel in North Africa, then returned to Malta where he triumphed in the International Song Festival with Ray Agius and Alfred Sant. This led to his 10-year partnership with the songwriting duo.
Ray Agius was born in 1952 and started composing once he had finished his musical studies in classics. He later pursued his love of jazz. Ray has been writing songs with lyricist Alfred Sant for 25 years, during which time they have proved to be one of Malta's most successful songwriting duos. Apart from composing, Ray is a prominent arranger and conductor, acclaimed at international festivals abroad. His songs represented Malta in Tokyo's World Song Festival and at the Çesme International Festival in Turkey.
The work of Alfred Sant has featured prominently in the pop music scene for almost 25 years. He is acclaimed as one of the leading lyricists on the island, writing with Malta's leading composers. He and Ray Agius have penned songs that were recorded on numerous albums. Alfred is a part-time disk-jockey and has just finished writing a musical and stage play.
