Biography
Kasia Kowalska was born in Warsaw in 1973. As a teenager, she sang in various local bands. Her breakthrough came in 1994, when she signed a contract with Studio Izabelin and released her first album. Shortly after, her career was given a boost when she won the Polish "Grammy" - the Fryderyk Prize for best début.
The crowds have gone wild when this talented jazz singer has given concerts with big bands. Kasia has won two prizes at the international Sopot Festival: The Grand Prix and the Public's Choice prize. Her popularity in Poland is still growing, with her records selling up to 300,000 each.
Kasia's songs are about herself and women of her age. She sings about love and hate, anger and sorrow - old themes which never go out of fashion.
Robert Amirian was born in 1972, and grew up in a home full of Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Julio Iglesias. He began to play the guitar when he was 17, and has, through his many travels, acquired a taste for the variety of types of music which form the basis of his fusions of music: jazz, folk, soul, rock, classical and musical. Amongst his favourite musicians are Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Sting and Pat Metheny.
He has produced and released several records - two of which will reach the music shops this year. In his spare time he studies, does work for advertising agencies and is both a book-worm and a film fan. [Notes from the Official 1996 Programme by NRK]
