Biography
Mélanie Cohl was born at Tournai in Belgium in 1982 and began practising violin when she was six years old. At the age of eight she entered her first song contest. In recent years Mélanie has performed as a first act to many popular and established French artists such as Jeanne Mas, Adamo, Herbert Léonard, and Claude Barzotti. Last year, supported by a large popular vote, Mélanie won the junior trophy of the televised contest Pour La Gloire on French-speaking national TV (RTBF); watching the performance was Philippe Swan.
Philippe Swan is a composer, artist and producer who recorded his first hit single, Dans Ma Rue for Phonogram France in 1988. It was a big hit, selling more than 220,000 copies. Two albums and four singles followed that success. Today Philippe is probably best known as a highly sought after composer. It was after seeing Mélanie on television that he wrote and produced an album for her. It includes Dis Oui which is Mélanie’s Eurovision Song Contest entry.
