Biography
There has been some controversy in Belgium because this song is being performed in English. A flemish song normally only gets to go to Eurovision every two years as the contest is shared between two broadcasters, one Flemish, one French. With recent relegations this frequency of appearance has been getting longer. The song is a moody ballad, slightly reminiscent of House of the Rising Sun, and was chosen from twenty-five hopefuls in a four-week National Final of excellent quality.
The performance was fine if a little dull. Unfortunately the second place draw, notorious for sinking well thought of songs, dealt a killer blow to the song and only good marks from Belgian-lovers Netherlands and Ireland saved it from a lower score.
