Biography
Another song to be disqualified this year was Starac I More which was discovered to have been recorded in Finnish previously. This James-Bond-style ballad was replaced long after the preview video had been shot with the second placed Putnici. Dino Dervišhalidovic was founder of the successful group Merlin, has worked closely with Youssaf Islam (the artist formerly know as Cat Stevens) and was composer of the first Bosnian entry in 1993. His co-singer Beatrice Poulot comes from French dominion La Reunion but nows lives in Paris. She was a backing singer with the band Kassav and released a successful solo album in 1995.
Sung in French and Bosnian this strange little duet gave us another of the surprises of the evening. Perhaps while others were trying too hard, the Bosnians with no chance of saving themselves from relegation, just had a good time. Dino had lost his Joe-90 look but still looked like he had just jumped up out of the audience while Beatrice was cool and sophisticated in matching colours. One of the best performances of the night brought a flurry of good votes and a best ever placing and score but as expected Bosnia will still not appear in 2000.
