Biography
Roger Pontare (48) is a man who chooses his own ways through life. He sings with big bands, symphony orchestras as well as with choirs. His public breakthrough in Sweden came in 1994, when he won the Swedish ESC final together with Marie Bergman and the song "Stjärnorna" (The stars). Last year he returned to the contest and came fifth with "Som av is" (As if made of ice). This year he was the outright winner with "När vindarna viskar mitt namn", which was written especially for him.
Thomas Holmstrand, Linda Jansson and Peter Dahl all come from Degerfors in the province of Värmland and have been writing together for a couple of years. Thomas plays the drums in the group Dr Cover and also works as a designer. Linda used to be a member of the group Angel in the early 1990s. They had a couple of hits and took part in the Swedish ESC final in 1992 with the song "Venus butterfly". In recent years, however, she has lent her voice to the Smurf business, having sung on Smurfhits Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Peter is a guitar player and can often be seen on tour with the group Pekkas Pack. Inspired by the film "Geronimo" they wrote "När vindarna viskar mitt namn" especially for Roger Pontare. The song deals with indigenous people’s struggle for their rights.
