Biography
XXL is a group made up of four girls from Skopje: Rosica Nikolovska, 18, attends the Skopje tourism high-school and likes pop and classical music. Verica Karanfilovska, 16, whose father has written the entry, has already taken part in a number of domestic song festivals. Ivana Djamcevska,17, is still in high-school and enjoys listening to the group Enigma. Marija Nikolovska turned 17 on the day when the national final was held and has been playing the flute since she was eleven. The four are very good friends and can often be spotted in any of Skopje’s major cafés.
Dragan Karanfilovski was born in Sarajevo in 1956. He is an economist by profession, although he has devoted his life almost entirely to music. He is one of the owners of Studio Boys and has been involved in music from a young age. After moving to Bitola (in FYR Macedonia), in 1976, he founded the group Madrigals and made his first audio recordings for national radio. In the role of both author and singer, Dragan Karanfilovski's festival performances are quite numerous (Makfest, Interfest, Skopje Festival, etc.). His instrument is definitely the guitar, while his music style has been defined as pop-chanson. After taking a break for several years, he is now back on the music scene.
Orce Zafirovski - the lyricsist - was born in 1966 in Skopje. He is actually a dentist, although he has been participating writing lyrics at festivals ever since he was a student, and this with tremendous success. He began his career by writing lyrics for folk songs, but then passed on to pop music. He has won several festival awards. His cooperation with Dragan Karanfilovski - Boys started in 1998, at a children's festival, where their song received the audience award.
