Biography
Francine Jordi is a winner! In only four years she went from "newcomer" status to the "bell ringing" top of the musical mountain. Her carrier high point-for the moment-happened on 02.02.2002. She won the Swiss national competition for the Eurovision Songcontest. Who is the young lady with the contagious smile and the stunning charisma? How does she avoid getting painted into any musical corner while pleasantly surprising both her public and the muiscal business?
One possible answer is Francine´s family, who give their youngest unwavering support and-in positive symbiosis with her management-provide her with fertile ground of growth. As a child Francine sang with her sisters Nicole and Tanja, together with their parents Franz and Margrit in "Spycher" in Interlaken for crowds of "mostly Japanese" tourists. There, she began her musical journey with Swiss folk music, as a teenager, she fell in love with gospel. This romance continues. During each of her approximately 150 concerts per year she sings one of her impressive gospel standards.Francine doesn´t categorize music into niches, the only thing that matters to her is if it´s good or bad music.
She went back to her roots in 1998, competing in-and winning-with the general public as jury, the Grand Prix of Folk Music.Golden CDs followed, hit parade victories, moderation of German network TV shows and tours trough Europe´s German speaking territories. Her name appeared three times in a row in the Swiss Media prize list the "Prix Walo". She also won the public "Prix Walo" prize for the most loved Swiss artist in all categories: music, sport, culture and entertainment.
In spite of mounting career pressures she still found time to successfully finish her musical education at the music conservatory in Neuchatel. Her positive attitude can be heard in her composition and lyrics. For example her ballade Dans le jardin de mon ame, that will be represent Switzerland on May 25th 2002 in Tallinn, Estonia at the finale of the Eurovision Songcontest, where she will sing the French version of her song. First, because she concluded her vocal education in French. Second she lived with a guest of family in the French speaking part of Switzerland and learned to love the language.
In fall 2002 Francine will savor another one of her dreams, her first solo tour with live band throughout Switzerland.
