Biography

Sahléne (Anna Cecilia Sahlin) is a 25-year old Swedish singer, who has earlier performed as a backing vocal at the Eurovision Songcontest for two times (for Sweden in 1999 and Malta in 2000). She was born in 1976 in a small Swedish town called Söderhamn. Coming from a big family with great musical talent, she began singing and playing instruments at a very early age. As a nine year old, she starred as one of the main characters in the movies based on Astrid Lindgrens books about "The Children From Noisy Village" (Barnen I Bullerbyn).

At the age of 18, Sahléne decided to move to Stockholm to try her luck as an artist. Soon she started to build a reputation as skilful vocalist, which led to the job as the lead-singer of the r´n´b-pop band Rhythm Avenue. Rhythm Avenue released one album in Sweden and Japan. At the same time Sahléne was working a lot as a back-up vocalist for Swedish artists like Carola (ESC 1984 and 1991), Eric Gadd, Robyn, and more.

In 1999 she was approached by the Swedish record label Arcade, which led to the recording of Sahléne´s first solo-album called The Little Voice-a piece of of organic pop with rock influences. The album is the result of a collaboration with the very successful American songwriter Kara DioGuardi (Kylie Minogue, Ricky Martin, Celine Dion (ESC 1988)) and the Swedish producer Patrik Berger (Robyn, Jennifer Brown ). Two singles were released from the album, which generated that Sahléne became the opening act for both Bon Jovi and Robert Plant.

About representing Estonia in the ESC, Sahlene says: I´m so happy for this opportunity to represent Estonia in the very best way I can. I´m really proud of the Estonian people who has shown such great hospitality and been so brave letting a non-native person compete for them!

The authors of the song are well-known producers and composers in Estonia, who came fourth with their song Once in a Lifetime at the Eurovision Songcontest two years ago.
