Biography
Despite a tough competition, Louisa Baïleche won the Eurovison selection without any doubt. Not in the pop market, this dark hair woman will bring her “Monts et Merveilles” (The moon and the stars) to Riga, the eastern country Lettonia. There in Riga, Louisa Baïleche will be proud
Louisa Baïleche grew up in Ivry Sur Seine, suburbs of Paris. During her tender childhood, she was listening to her mother’s traditional Italian songs and was taught to hard dancing training. She is not used with usual paths. Her life is punctuated with different meetings such as Vilmont, Philippe Naud, John Strasberg who made her discover theatre. In 1992, she met also an Egyptian movie director, Yousef Chahine who trusted her to perform at the Comedie Française a play by Albert Camus, “Caligula”. Five years later, Louisa, gathering the knowledges of dancing and acting, was doing a big success at the Folies Bergères in the musicals “Nine” (Tony Award of the best musical in Broadway in 1982), based on the movie “8 ½” by Federico Fellini. Then, from dance to theatre or theatre to song, Louisa knows only a universal language: tell her feelings and give emotion. Therefore, she sang for different confidential bands, fun or rock thinking about her favourite singers such as Maurane, Alain Souchon, Michel Jonasz, Annie Lennox, Idir and more than all Oletta Adams. And this strong will is tailored by her alter ego, Hocine Hallaf.
Hocine Hallaf, co-founder of the Aston Villa band which received a Victoire de la Musique quit rock for pop. Touched by the work and character of Serge Gainsbourg, Barabara or David Bowie, he is trying to honor the pop segment and offers his talent to Jenifer “Au Soleil”, David Halliday, Tak Farinas or Christina Marrocco “Appelle moi”.
Louisa loves the strong and fragile writing of Houcine. He says about her that she never totally opens herself, that she knows how to keep mystery. COMPLICES AND complementary, this duo tries not to fight, keeping distance and build a universe full of pictures and words which “Monts et Merveilles” is a perfect example. This light song deals with sky and ocedan. An ocean kept by a piano, a voice full of motivation and sublimated by oriental PERCUSSIONS and violins. Without any oriental meaning, the duo is not a cultural alibi but an emotional one.
