The format of the final is (apart from the semifinals) identical to last year's. 3 super finalists will be determined by combining votes of the televoting and an international jury (50/50). The three will perform again and after that TV viewers will vote again. The winner and thus Slovenian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest will be the song that will receive the highest amount of televotes. The event takes place at Gospodarsko razstavisce, a popular venue for pop concerts, in the capital Ljubljana.

Many thought that this was a disappointing start to a five-evening long quest to find the Slovenian Eurovision Song Contest entry. This is Platin's biggest success to date. Including the Slovenian Idol tv show winner, Peter Jenuš, as the back up singer certainly didn't hurt.

The strongest names competed in the second final. Natalija Verboten's victory was never questioned. She won with the biggest margin, receiving almost as many votes as the other 5 contestants combined. Cry on my shoulder was written by the same team that wrote Slovenia's 2001 entry, Energy. The song sung by Monika Pucelj was originally intended for an all star quartet of Nusa Derenda, Pika Bozic, Alenka Godec and Anja Rupel.

No real favourites in this semifinal which means that the Top 3 was expected to happen as much as it is a surprise. It was the most versatile semifinal of all four containing light pop (Damijana Godnic), good pop rock (Alya, Prava stvar), hip hop (Panda feat. Trkaj) and also a song that reminded us of the golden age of Slovenian pop songs from the 60s and 70s (Kristina Oberzan).

Some of the most interesting names appeared in the last semifinal, including former Miss Slovenia Rebeka Dremelj. It was once again proven that newcomers do have a chance in the televoting. Maja Slatinsek and Rozmarinke were to this day more or less unknown to a broader Slovenian public. On the other hand, one of the biggest names of Slovenian music in the early 90s, Pop Design, failed to impress.
