It was announced that Brian Kennedy will represent Ireland at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. Under new selection plans unveiled by RTÉ today, Kennedy will sing a song which will be chosen by a public vote. Four songs will be shortlisted from those submitted and the compositions will be performed by Kennedy and voted upon by the public in a one-hour television special in the early spring.
