Hungary: national final participants announced

The 15 experienced music acts to compete in the Hungarian national final selection have now been revealed by broadcaster MTV. The songs were chosen by an jury that included Malek Miklós, Benko; László, Horgas Eszter and Lévai Balázs. As announced by esctoday.com back in November 2007, the Hungarian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest will be held on Friday 8th February.

The following singers will take part in the national final, as announced by MTV on their website this afternoon:

  • EZ ONE zenekar
  • Candis
  • Imre Zsuzsa
  • Vágó Zsuzsi - Mészáros Árpád Zsolt
  • Antal Zsuzsa & Fishers Company
  • DURE
  • Lola
  • 21 gramm
  • Gál Csaba Boogie
  • Szekeres Adrienn
  • Hoffmann Mónika
  • Fiesta
  • Szatmári Orsolya
  • Csézy
  • Pflum Orsolya

Lola took already part in the 2005 national final with the song Szerelem but did not reach the top 4.

In 2007, Magdi Rúzsa represented Hungary and she finished second in the semi final and ninth in the final. The Hungarian entry Unsubstantial blues won the 2007 esctoday.com awards in three categories: Composer of the year, Best female performance and Best video. Furthermore, it was the runner-up in the Song of the year and Performance of the year categories.

"I think it is more important for a Hungarian ESC artist that he/she can speak/sing good Hungarian..... "

Well, Monika can do that to! And I wonder why Hungary has got so few international stars...in comparison to Sweden. It's good to be able to speak/sing both languages!

Thanks to Marcell, I've just listened to Candis - Van Aki Nyer and think it's great song: imagine those 3 girls on the ESC stage with proper choreography and in English.

Remind of Serebro and could achieve similar success.

Yes, you can never become international if you can't speak good english, unfortunately.

@vote united kingdom
Like usually- I agree with Khalid and you ofcourse.
Magdi was my fav. cause she brought quality in a simple, non glittery way..
No doubt the east sent better songs. It is about time the west improves and drop thr gimmics-simple ,powerfull songs sang by quality singers..

I'm delighted to see Monika Hoffman as a participant! Me and a bunch of my friends saw her live for the first time at the Sziget festival in Hungary! We were all stunned by her beautiful voice and her stage-presence, she's really a true performer :D
We're all routing for you,
- Lots of love from Sanna, Billan, Peter, Carl-Axel and Tord from Sweden
