[UPD] Belgium: the results of the fourth quarter final

The fourth and last semi final of Belgium's Eurosong 2008, the national selection for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, was held tonight. The final five songs were presented and the top two were chosen by televoting to compete in the semi finals to kick off next week. Furthermore, the two jury wildcards have been revealed.

To the semi finals:

 • Sandrine - I feel the same way
 • Paranoiacs - Shout it out

The two jury wildcards from the four qaurter finals:

 • Tabitha Cycon - Rumour has it
 • A Butterfly Mind - Lonely heart on wheels

The running order for two heats has now been revealed:

1st semi final:

 1. Tanja Dexters - Addicted to you
 2. Nelson - When I can't find love
 3. Paranoiacs - Shout it out
 4. A Butterfly Mind - Lonely heart on wheels
 5. Katy Satyn - Magical sensation

2nd semi final:

 1. Geena Lisa - Wheel of time
 2. Tabitha Cycon - Rumour has it
 3. Sandrine - I feel the same way
 4. Ishtar - O Julissi Na Jalini
 5. Brahim - What I like about you

Last year the Walloon broadcaster submitted the entry LovePower which was performed by the KMG's and finished 26th in the semi final getting 14 points - 12 of them from debuting country Georgia. The last time an entry by the Flemish broadcaster reached the top 10 was back in 1977! In 2008, Belgium will take part in the first semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 20th May.

i have seen all the4 rounds of eurosong again and i must say in the beginning i tought Katy was the best choise and even Istphar but now i think we must send Tabitah with her song "rumour has it"" but then with another tittle "A beautiful day" ; With another backingvocals ( take the backings from brahim and nelson) and new outfit it can be a huge surprise

Whether music is dated or not is absolutely irrelevant: as if successful eurovision music is innovative! I'm sure the Belgians are wise enough to pick the best song...I just hope it's Sandrine or Nelson ;)

Ishtar is the one to choose if all Belgium wants is to be a looser. I simply ca not stand it!!

Come on, people, can't you see Katy Satyn, Geena Lisa or Tanja Dexters are the worst possible choice for Belgium? The way in which Kate Ryan was robbed should have taught people that much. We already sent that type of songs (Xandee, Kate Ryan) and they were totally ignored.

IF (big if, mind you - this is Belgium after all) we are going to qualify it's going to be with songs that stand out a little, not with worn-out Eurovision clichés like Magical Sensation. So my pick would be Ishtar, Nelson or even Paranoiacs. The latter would probably be a totally irresponsible gamble, but at least it's fun ànd different.

I really do belive that Belgium has good chances this year with probably the best final ever. They seem to have a luxury problem, too many good songs Sandrine, Nelson and Ishtar.... I wouldn't know what to chose anymore as they are all equally excellent. But my favorite is Ishtar. I see this song going all the way, even winning the final for Belgium in Belgrade. Merci Belgique, greetings from a Swiss in London

I just don't want the belgians to send the wrong song and then wonder why they keep getting bad results.
Plus: the only ones who make the wrong predictions are most eurofans who still live in the 90s

Folks, it's all a matter of taste and not of being on another planet...

For me, it has to be Ishtar:
Belgium would be in the lead on my personal list if they choose Ishtar... O Julissi Na Jalini and its presentation is so unbelievably sweet...

Kris is absolutely not on another planet: with Sandrine and Nelson we've heard two of the best songs in eurosong ever. And people who claim they can predict what kind of songs will do well in the contest are so wrong....

Katy satyn+Biondo,as being such good songs, make me wonder why they are not in MF...
Instead we get warn out, outdated songs...
Sweaden-keep your talents home, close to the chest-some of them are excellent!

Katy satyn or Ishtar please...

AND Marcel Vanthilt always in the jury , he does not know anything about the good music, he likes only crap songs!!!!

What a shame !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kris ,...Before always speaking about the “Swedish” music. I propose to you to listen to Sanne "empty room" This year swedish semi final. This song is better by far of all the songs of this Belgian selection.
And if I come from another planet you come surely from a planet more distant...

Khalid GR [24641]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 14:12:29

@ Kris

Sorry pal, but it seems you are in another planet. Nelson, Sandrine and Ishtar are definitely no winners in ESC, their songs are nothing that special, they just have no winner factor considering the number of countries participating.
To be honest Belgium can only hope for a qualification to the final with Katy, Ishtar or Tanja but nothing more.

Jacques, what planet are you on my friend. You Belgian paople should be gratefull for such a strong field. You have some extremely good songs in the selection now. You have 3 potential winners Ishtar, Nelson and Sandrine. All very good songs, good performers. My favorite would be Nelson (sound very international, melody sticks in your head). Looking at all the crap been chosen so far, I would say Belgiul choose quality and do not go for the cheap swedish copies of Magical sensation and Addicted to you....

Jacques Dusart [34344]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 13:34:16

But for me that will remain a bad selection, the two better songs have directly eliminated !
Definitely still the bad choice again.

Jacques Dusart [34344]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 13:24:18

Eva and Elisa were the best....

Satyn or Dexters is now the best choice for Belgium!

I hate totally the songs of Ishtar(Crap) and Sandrine(So boring).

Kris Fruyt [43662]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 13:06:47

Ishtar or Nelson please

Ishtar gets my vote if they come to Belgrade!

I disagree. Katy's song is a wannabe attempt to gain Celtic votes, Balcan votes and Scandinavian votes. Really nothing special. The kind of song that tends to dominate the contest over and over again. I hate it.

Khalid GR [24641]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 12:52:43

Katy's song for example is much better.

Khalid GR [24641]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 12:52:06

It's not a bad song, but it's not the kind of song to be voted in ESC. It's very dated

w s [29210]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 12:37:15

Khalid, I don't understand you. Sandrine has the best song and best voice. Maybe Belgium won't qualify with her, but that seems impossible anyway. Sandrine can't possibly be accused of having a bad song. And the usual reaction is that the west should send better songs, well this song is good. It is better then all songs chosen so far.

Khalid GR [24641]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 12:23:22

I don't want to be mean or hurt anyone's feelings, but if Belgium sends Sandrine don't expect it to qualify...

w s [29210]
Mon 18 Feb 2008 12:15:20

Belgium will probably choose Katy, nothing learned from earlier disasters. As if crap like "Magical sensation" will attract votes from Europe.
Sandrine is great, her song is great and so is her voice.
