UK: More information about the songs
Additional news
The BBC have confirmed to esctoday.com that the six songs will be available to hear on the updated official BBC Eurovision website pages in the near future. The songs will also be made available on radio soon.
Michelle Gayle - Woo (U Got Me)
Michelle Gayle is probably best known for her role as Hattie Tavernier in EastEnders which helped launch her successful assault onto the British charts in the Nineties. Michelle has had a string of Top Ten UK hits including Sweetness, Do You Know and Things Are Looking Up.
Michelle's song, Woo (you got me) is pop in essence, but she says it has very cool Sixties vibe to it. According to Michelle, the song is about a couple who are from different countries, so have a language barrier – they are literally lost in translation.
Andy Abraham - Even If
Former X Factor finalist Andy is currently writing his third album after winning over the nation with his soulful sound.
His Eurovision entry, Even If, is a funky ballad about a man who has found genuine love and wants to show his commitment. Andy believes his song is catchy, memorable and cool enough to be a winner.
LoveShy - Mr Gorgeous
Twenty-two-year-old Aimee Kearsley and 24-year-old Emma Beard are the lively popstrels that make up LoveShy. With five years experience in the business as part of girl band Clea, they think a loud and catchy song is the way to win Eurovision.
Their entry, Mr Gorgeous, is a stylish pop song about meeting the perfect guy and wanting to spend all your time with him. LoveShy say that Mr Gorgeous is less of a love song and more of a lust song!
The Revelations - It's You
The Revelations consists of Annika Magnberg, 24, Louise Masters, 24, and Sarah Vitorino, 22. Their classic soulful pop music is influenced by Sixties girl groups such as The Supremes, along with more contemporary influences like the Scissor Sisters.
The Revelations' song, It's You, is an upbeat and original modern motown song celebrating love and how good it feels. The girls think It's You has all the right ingredients of a winning some because it's a good tune with fantastic harmonies.
Rob McVeigh - I Owe It All To You
Twenty-four-year-old Rob hit our screens last year as one of the final 12 Josephs in Any Dream Will Do. "Rob the Builder", as he became known, had no idea a year ago that he was about to be launched into a full-time career as a singer – let alone be up for representing the UK in Eurovision.
Rob's song, I Owe It All to You is a big ballad that Rob hopes will show his vulnerable side by being in such contrast to the rock songs he sang in Any Dream Will Do. Rob thinks that recent entries have lacked passion – something his has plenty of, for the song, his country and his love of performing.
Simona Armstrong - Changes
Born and raised in Romania, Simona Armstrong was one of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's final ten from the hit BBC One series How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Sadly Simona didn't make it as Maria, but she is delighted to be taking part in Eurovision where the competition is taken very seriously in her native homeland.
Simona's song Changes she feels has a universal appeal as it's about keeping positive and adapting to the challenges and changes of every day life. She hopes that if she makes it through to the competition in Belgrade this year that Romania will give the UK douze points!

So, from the two so far!
I prefer The Revelations..... LoveShy is ok, but there was a song in ESC last that sounded like Girl's Aloud and it didn't do so well.
Can't wait to hear the rest of the songs.....
I don't think either of the girl groups have very strong songs unfortunately. Neither are as strong as Song #1 from last year, that said, Mr. Gorgeous is miles better than It's You. I'm most interested to see what the Joseph vs Maria category will be like, I think one of them will be our winner, or Michelle.
The tickets were poorly handled (again) this year. I know of many fans who haven't been able to get them.
Mr Gorgeous is now a longer snippet on their myspace and the Revelations song is on in full. Don't think 'It's You' is going to appeal to Europe one bit (very Anthony Costa MYMU 2006) so so far I'm going for LoveShy. Depeninding on performance it could do pretty well!?!
this may be a bit late, but I wouldn't let ITV anywhere near ESC. Like the JESC, they would shunt to ITV 2 or 3, and would drop it like hotcakes after a couple of bad results. I much prefer it without ad breaks anyway.
And I agree about bemoaning the artists/songs in EYD, until we have seen the artists perform and present the songs on March 1st, and chosen a song to represent us, no one can really say which song is the best one. I like the fact that a jury panel has a say this year, it just may work.
Sorry- i dont believe i have slated any songs- i have only heard loveshy and love them- might love the others even more once i have heard them, but as yet can only comment on loveshy
Don't slate songs you haven't heard yet.
Just heard the full version of loveshy- I think this stands a good chance; up to date, catchy, fun- cant wait to see it live but would be happy for these to represent us
I take it that if we haven't heard yet we haven't got tickets!!!!!
I applied one hour after they opened the booking and still no ticket's.
Hey if I move to London I may get chosen?????????
We should wait until we hear the songs in full. Then we should wait until March 1st. Then we should vote for the song we like the best. Then we should be satisfied that we as individuals have done all we can.
Don't sweat it everyone; from the clips, there's no ESC winner, but that's fifteen seconds! The likelihood is that there's no ESC winner in there anyway, but there's always next year! Stay positive, stay upbeat, stay happy! If, in the same way as Mother Nature we had Mother Eurovision, she'd surely be hugely disappointed with us Brits for not taking things in the spirit she'd want us to take them!
The Revelations sound OK, LoveShy sounds pretty good, and I didn't think Simona's sounded terrible, either. Let's wait and see though! The lack of information followed by the lack of full songs to listen to is frustrating, but it'll all come to us in time!
So my message for the day? Play nice, everyone. Even Lindsay Dracass got that big note on the night.
just because they are hardly well know does not mean that the songs are gonna flop,it just proves my point about us Brits being to damn Negative I dont know how we managed with the Technology of today (brits designer wise).thats why U.S.A. are so good with stuff because they are Positive in life.
well it would be easier to be enthusiastic if we had heard all the songs in full. but looking at the names its seems very familair to the pattern of recent years.
Wow... I am stunned in a way at the lack of support for the UK particpants. I think it's great to have a range of acts this year that will bring some different styles to the UK final. Each of the acts has talent in their own way, otherwise they wouldn't have reached finals of TV shows. Would be nice to see more people being positive about the UK selection. People are already 'slating' acts and we haven't heard the songs. I am enjoying the build up to ESC'08 and will enjoy hearing the UK I am sure......... Lighten up everyone! :-)
Good luck UK,there's one thing I hate about being British is that we are allways the only ones to diss our own Country while other nations up themselves.
I won't be there as well. I be in Majorca on the day!
I won't be there sadly, even with standby tickets. I'd rather watch at home rather than go all the way to London and be told no and not get home in time to watch on TV.
When I went before (MYMU 2005 and 2006) they put a sticker with an number on your ticket and they called the numbers out like: Number 1 to 20 etc. Just turn up early!
Usually with studio tickets you are not guaranteed entry - it's generally first come first served. They always give out too many tickets to allow for people not turning up so arrive early folks!
they tell you in the email that only the person booking them can collect, that the names will be held on the door and that you must bring a form of id
Unbelievable, I applied 6 and a half hours after booking for tickets opened and I wasn't quick enough. Might be able to get in on standby still but that means going all the way there for a maybe. Plus if I don't get in, there's no way I'd get back in time to catch it on TV.
check your emails as i just recieved my tickets for eurovision your decision
@Euro Diva
Your name says it all DIVA
Er hang on Diva you haven't even heard the songs yet! how do you know they are talentless, just because they aren't "big stars". I'd like to add too that big stars in the UK means a completely different kettle of fish to big stars in Poland or Russia, because big stars in the UK (Sugababes, Leona Lewis and the like) are INTERNATIONAL!
I am sick and tired of having bunch of talentless wannabees as UK representatives for Eurovision.
BBC has no interest left in the show and they need to be protested. I want ESC fans not to go to the show and not to vote.
Where did BBC find these people; from the pubs, from the bars, amongst the buskers?
I am absolutely disgusted as a British ESC fan.
SHAME!!!
I've just managed to listen to slightly longer versions of the songs from Jo Whiley's show on Radio 1. WOW - some of them sound bad
The only decent songs I could make out were LoveShy followed by The Revelations.
If you want to hear better snippets of the songs, listen to today's Jo Whiley show on the BBC radio player, about 2 hours in.
Judging from those snippets, Loveshy and The Revelations have the strongest songs, Rob McVeigh's song is OK, Michelle Gayle sounds a bit too cabaret. I'm not keen on Simona Armstrong or Andy Abraham's songs, though.
@Laila
To be honest, I don't like anything by Andy Abraham or Michelle Gayle either but I just think it's only fair to wait before I judge the songs.
Believe me, I'm a harsh critic and I'll be the first to hold my hands up if they are rubbish.
