Super Saturday!

This weekend: a preview

This weekend will probably be the highlight in the 2008 national final season with a total of twelve shows being held. Saturday will be this year's "Super Saturday", when no less than eight national finals and one semi final will take place.

Finland

The third and last semi final will be held in Finland. The final four songs will be presented and televoting will send two songs directly to the national final. The other two songs will enter the second chance round next week.

  • You can find the line-up here.

Croatia

Both shows of Dora 2008 will be held this weekend. On Friday, 14 songs will be presented and televoting will choose six songs to join the ten pre-qualified songs in the national final on Saturday. In the final, the winner will be decided by a jury and televoting like in recent years. The expectations should be high as in 2007, for the first time since its debut in 1993, Croatia did not take part in the final of Eurovision Song Contest but was eliminated in the semi-final.

  • You can find the line-up here.

Ukraine

The Ukrainian national final will be held on Saturday. Ani Lorak will present all five entries and the winning song will be chosen by televoting and a jury. In addition to her performances, four artists who have already won their place at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest will present their entries in the show.

Ireland

Ireland finished last in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2007 and the winner of this Saturday's national final will try to do much better in Belgrade. Six acts will present one song each and the winner will be chosen by televoting only.

Iceland

After eleven quarter finals, a second chance round and four semi finals, Iceland will finally choose its representative. From the 33 entries that have been in the selection, the final eight will be presented in the national final this Saturday. The winner will be chosen by televoting.

Romania

After two very long semi finals the last two weeks, Romania will choose its representative in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. The country finished outside the top ten in Helsinki and hopes to achieve a better result again. The last week, there have been two changes in the line-up, nevertheless the number of entries remains twelve.

Poland

Poland has not been in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004 but has always been very close. Gee Oh -you probably remember that "tornero" was decided thanks to jury.the televote wanted the horrible yokero...
So the jury will win -sorry.
Besides-who says that the votes you cast on your esc fan talk-back /tvr is what the majority at home will choose???
Not always fans taste is competible with larger taste..shall I remind you Cyprus and Swiss last year? Hollandand Iceland 2005?
In or che kaz-mult succes pentru toate tzara romana...

Poland : I hope Kasia Nova will win!!! if not than Isis Gee or Natasza Urbanska (if she has a good entry)... the rest are not good enough. And please NOOOOO Swedish cheap songs like Man Meadow or Sandra Oxenryd!!! Have some self-esteem Poland and don't send them..!

Ukraine: The Dream of a Brighter Day or Zhdu Tebya for Ani Lorak and Ukraine... NOOOO "Shady Lady"... it sounds like teenage girl-band song... Ani Lorak is too classy for a cheap song like that... The Dream of a Brighter Day or Zhdy Tebya for Ukraine!

Sweden: BWO directly to final! It's their year this time... the rest we'll see

Defitnetly Eurobandí for Iceland!! only i wish they sing icelandic and the original version of the song.

Finland Semi 3/3: Cristal Snow ToThe Final Deffo, I Dont Mind Who Else, But I Still Think Cupido By Movetron Is The Best Choice For Finland In Belgrade. MOVETRON TO BELGRADE IN THE END!!!!

Croatia Semi 1/1: Heard About 3 Songs So Have No Idea LOL

Croatia Final: Heard About 3 Songs So Have No Idea LOL

Bulgaria Final: Deep Zone feat Balthazar With Dj Take Me Away To Belgrade, Well Bulgaria Went For Drums & Wailing Last Year, Why Not Go To The Other Extreme With Trance Dance With A Hint Of Reggae LOL.

Ukraine Final: I Think The Line Up Is Pretty Weak, But Id Go For Shady Lady FOr Belgrade

FYR Macedonia Final: I Listened To The Refrain Video And Non Really Jumped Out, Some Were Nice, Some Were Awful, Personally I Would Go For None Nedelkovska With ''Vrati Se'' Or Tuna With ''Prasuvam Bez Glas'', But I Think The Macedonians May Go For One Of The Guys With The Gentle Pop - Dance Songs, Will Be nteresting To See THe Result.

Iceland Final: Fullkomid Lif All The Way, But Please Euroband, I Like The English Translation, This Is My Life, But Dont Loose The Excellent Music And The High Notes In The Middle, From Many Peoples Reactions Its Clear We Love Your Song, But Not As uch In Its New Dance - Techno Form, Come On Do Us Icelanders Proud, Give Europe A Reason To Say Til Hamingju Island To Our Proud Nation. So Anyway, EUROBANDID TO BELGRADE!

Romania Final: Lagaylia Frazier With Dr Frankenstein, Nicole With Fairytale Sotry Or Rednex feat Ro-Mania With Railroad Railroad TO Belgrade. Persoally I Am Rooting For Lagaylia, Fabulous Song I Can See THe Thuderbolts Flash Across The Huge Screens Of The ESC Stage And The Pyrotechnics After The Line ''Dr Frankenstein'' BOOM! LAGAYLIA TO BELGRADE!!!!!!!

Poland Final: Superheo iS SO Fabulous I Could Explode, Viva La Musica IS Good But Way Too Subtle, Has No Wow, Dlatego Walcz Is Beautiful & The Devil Is Ok, But You Listen TO IT Once And Then It Looses Me. Sandra Back To ESC, Get TO The Final This Time Babe, Coz Your Our SUPERHERO, Our Top Action Big!!! SANDRA TO BELGRADE!!!

Ireland Final:We Get To Here The Songs Later Today, But Based On All The Publicity & Hype, We Might Have A Whif Of Turkey From The Emerald Isle, Will Dustin Pull It Off?

Sweden Melodifestivalen Semi 3/4: Ofcourse We Wont Even Here Song Snippets Till Friday Night, But Based On The Artists, I Would Say BWO To The Final, If There Song Is Good, Saying That THis Year Has SO Far Been A Surprise, What With Velvet Being Eliminated And Carola & Andreas Falling To Andra Chansen (THank God, Love Carola But It Was Fun TO See THere Faces When They Didnt Get TO The Final). So Yes Based On Artist Alone, BWO & Therese Andersson To The Final, Caracola & Eskobar To Andra Chansen. But It All Lies In The Songs :). CHARLOTTE, SANNA OR LINDA TO BELGRADE IN THE END, I DO LOVE RONGEDAL THOUGH LOL.

Belgium Semi Final 1/2: Most Definatly Katy Satyn (Magical Sensatio) To The Final With Tanya Dexters (Addicted TO You). I AM Still in Shock THat The Begiam jury Didnt Pick Around The World TO GO Into The Semis As A Wild Card From Second Chance, Seriosuly People If YOu havent Heard It Get On The Belgian Site Or Youtube, It Is Fabulous And Was Robbed LOL. KATY SATYN FOR BELGRADE IN THE END I HOPE.

this is relevent to an article on oikotimes about svt and release of melodifestivalen results:

i thinkbecause of the weakness of the shows genrally so far and the lack of a strong interva act and one of the poorest melodifestivalen stages, oikotimes and svt may be working together to gain them some attention? i dont know but i trust svt and oikotimes, perhaps they are jus like prediction poll results? lol anyway cnt wait till this saturday 9 shows, 8 songs chosen and the third melodifestivalen deltavling and i have to admit, looking at the songs that have so far gotten through to the final, charlotte will win, but maybe linda bengtzing will pull out her guns with another schlager tune, but a winner this time?

now to get away from the negative and post a hearty comment about my prediction s for this super saturday and the surrounding events
