High rating figures
Israel: More than 400,000 watched Mauda
On the first night, the Kdam Eurovision 2008: Countdown show, started at 19:04 and lasted for 37 minutes, has been watched by 213,200 viewers (12%). The live show, where Boaz Mauda sang the five songs, started at 21:00 and lasted for 107 minutes, attracted 409,800 viewers (23%).
On the second night the rating figures were a little bit lower: the Kdam Eurovision 2008: Countdown show, started again at 19:04 and lasted for 35 minutes, has been watched by 183,200 viewers (10.3%), and the live show, started at 21:03 and lasted for 94 minutes, gained just 355,600 viewers (20%).
By the rating figures, Kdam Eurovision 2008 was the most successful national final of israel since 2000.
Kdam Eurovision 2001: 226,000 viewers (14.7%)
Kdam Eurovision 2003: Less than 212,000 viewers (12.8%)
Kdam Eurovision 2004: The contest in 2004 was held during the break in a basketball match, where the four videos of David D'or's songs were presented. The match attracted 227,000 viewers (13.7%)
Kdam Eurovision 2005: 376,000 viewers (22.1%)
Kdam Eurovision 2006: 246,000 viewers (14.2%)
Kdam Eurovision 2007: Less than 172,000 viewers (9.9%)
Boaz Mauda will sing the song Ke'ilu Kan (As If Here), written by Dana International and Shai Kerem, in the first Eurovision Song Contest semifinal on Tuesday, May 20th, in Belgrade, Serbia.

Israel has a good song this year, of course not as Shiri's but far better than the Israeli entries from the last years. And he has a wonderful live performance. Good luck!

Alam Au - The Israeli channel 2 is the most popular Channel is Israel. Boaz Mauda competed in "Israeli Idol 5" and won, so he is Popular and "Israeli Idol5" is very popular in Israel :-)
my opinion: It's an Israeli song and i like it so much. there is something special in this song, the chrous is very good, the voice is wonderful and in the Esc it'll be much better. Dana International Bravo for writing such a wonderful song!

out of them around 200000 voters in sms.
200000 double it by 25 cents per sms is 50000 euros that are going imidiatly to the pocket of Teddy productions. who promised the victory to Dana by making her song from second in the hearing order to the last. by giving her the best camera angles, by giving her the best stage visual, by making Boaz more ready to sing that song. by letting the judges allways praise dana's song. by making sound problems to the "Butterflies" song that the female singer needed to scream to be heard.
so Teddy productions made the best trick on the viewrs. in psychologist language its called brain wash.

There was a massive publicity about a month before the kdam including many promos and videos of israeli esc songs, esc version of Cash Cab and other shows, plus it was on Channel 2 which is the most popular channel in israel - IBA channel 1 hardly get any rating (except for basketball matches and eurovision)
Its because it was broadcasted for the first time on Channel 2 and also because Boaz was famous from Israeli idol.
Was fun to watch, although my Hebrew is (still) too crappy to understand it all. Sure was a thrilling evening!!
Can I ask anyone, is there a reason why viewing figures are high? Is it because of publicity/advertising, Boaz is so popular or something totally different?
