San Marino: Michele Imberti's bid for Eurovision

It has been announced that Michele Imberti, an Italian singer living in Sweden, has sent a song to RTV to represent San Marino at the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade this coming May.

The songwriter of "Toccare il cielo" is Matteo Di Franco. Matteo Di Franco was the songwriter of "Maggie" performed by Moses at San Remo in Italy in 2001, and "Preda innocente" performed by Tiziano Orecchio in San Remo 2006.

Michele Imberti, 24 years old, actually lives in Stockholm, Sweden and he has been one of 32 finalists in "Accademia di Sanremo" in 2001 and one of 25 finalists at the San Marino Festival one year later.

The demo version of "Toccare il cielo" is available on Michele's official website on MySpace.

Lyrics = Massimo di Cataldo (Se adesso te ne vai) + Gerardina Trovato (Dentro un film)

Wow... He is a nice copy machine...

Sounds promising. I would really like it if he sang the song in a acoustic style on the stage in ESC. Good luck San Marino! :)

I know Michele works as a waiter in Stockholm. He's an Esc fan and never signed a contract with a label. I really hope we'll see a more popular name representing Sanmarino...The very big problem is that Sanmarinese tv didn't promote its partecipation in Esc. Italian media didn't talk about it at all, nor did Rai during the Sanremo Festival.
So I am really afraid we will see an unknown singer with few or no experience on the stage representing Sanmarino.

well, at least he's hot

the real question is
will San Marino be to Italy what Andorra is to Spain and what Monaco and Luxembourg have been to France? A place for singers who can't enter the real esc for their countries? Especially in this case, where Italy is out of Eurovision?

Boring. Hope the actual entry will be better than any of the 3 already presented.

Never heard of him here in Italy but no problem. Great to see that Italians living abroad may have success out of our borders... I as born in Belgium as Italian and this dos not mean that I do not like Italy or now that I live here, hate Belgium.. I am European and I am proud of being European and multilingual.

Sorry Massimiliano but Celine Dion is not Swiss and she won for Sitzerland and what about Vanilla Ninja that sang for Sitzerland though they are Estonians... let's open the frontier and free our minds soing the seeds of Love......

Monica Bellucci has a lot of success in France and all over the world and lives in Paris.. does she hate Italy?

Good luck Michele!!!

But sorry Massimiliano,
where is it written in the article that he sent the song after February 25th, or that he doesn't like his Country? Also in his myspace's page, he only says that he loves Sweden, he didn't get big results in Italy and he felt the wish to change something in his life... what's the problem?
I read in the website of Massimo Bertacci that he won prizes in Russia, Montenegro or Kazakhstan, so it's quite normal looking for luck abroad too...
I only want to RTV San Marino will choose a good song, so all the best to all the singers who submitted good songs: Imberti, Bertacci, Jalisse and I hope many others!

Too easy!!! To easy !!! You can't leave your Country 'cause you don't like it and then use it to go to a contest! Not fair my friend. We never heard about you here, so go sing for Sweden, not Italy or San Marino.
