Germany: Roger Cicero received Fred Jay award
The award is named after Fred Jay (1914-1988), a lyricist who himself is connected to the Eurovision Song Contest: in 1971, he wrote the lyrics to the German entry Diese Welt which finished 3rd performed by Katja Ebstein and co-wrote the lyrics of Luxembourg's entry in 1976 - Chansons pour ceux qui s'aiment, which finished 14th. He also wrote the lyrics to the German versions of some other Eurovision Song Contest songs: The Spanish entry in 1973 (Eres tú as Das bist du), the Belgian entry in 1975 (Gelukkig zijn as Wenn keiner mehr zu dir steht) and the German version of Chansons pour ceux qui s'aiment.
Roger Cicero won the award for his latest achievements in the music business being one of the first singers to succesfully perform jazz songs in German. His both albums released so far - Männersachen and Beziehungsweise - were commercially very succesful. In 2007, he won the German national final for the Eurovision Song Contest and would represent his country in Helsinki with Frauen regieren die Welt. The song remains his only top ten single so far peaking at #7.

Congratulations for the award! Best of luck to him!
Roger Cicero was PERFECT in ESC 07 . For me, the true winner ESC 07
He sure was one the best in 2007. Although the rules of the contest are so ridiculous in past years, it´s nice to see that some people still have good taste and know waht real music means.
Congratulation Mr. Cicero!
I absolutely LOVE Roger's music: I HAD to get my copies of "Männersachen" and "Beziehungsweise", the latter with bonus-DVD. They're among the best purchases I've ever made!
I have come back from Berlin recently (I saw it all-Brandenburg gate, Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie), and on my last day I snapped up Männersachen from the train station (one of the biggest in europe, but one toliet area!), and - its a great album!
I also saw the greatest hits of DJ Otzi. I did not buy that! In the UK he is a one hit wonder-but odvesoly has a career in German speaking countries!
A well deserved award! Keep up the good work Roger!
He was great last year, he was really robbed at the contest! In a fair world, he could have won the whole thing...
His performance was one of the best last year, and he came across as very sympatic in interviews
Congratulations Roger and all the best for your girlfriend and your baby!
In this year's national final Roger was asked which moment from last year's ESC he remembered best, and he answered that his dearest Finnish memory was meeting Verka's mother.
Having had a synthetic overdose of Perrelli lately it is nice to remember things like that: Verka and Roger, two acts that had real class.
