Iceland: RÚV updates its Eurovision website

RÚV has launched it's annual update of Iceland's official Eurovision website - Eurovision.is.

The new site - available in Icelandic and English - is fairly thorough and informative. It gives it's visitors a chance to get know Iceland's 2008 Eurovision performers a little better as well as it goes into the depths and explores the story behind the writers of the song, the history of Eurobandið and more.

Not only does the site contain a Youtube stream of Iceland's 2008 entry - it also contains 3 downloadable versions of the song in it's original version,  instrumental version - and for those of you who are just dying to belch out to the catchy chorus of "This is your life" there is even a karaoke version! Lyrics can also be found on the site.

A further look into the site will reward you with some brand new photos of Regína Ósk and Friðrik Ómar as well as the remainder of the on-stage crew.

An entire part of the site is dedicated to Iceland's previous entries. From there you can access all of the old versions of the site or simply view a graph of Iceland's progress in the contest thus far.

RÚV has confirmed that they intend to update the site regularly and as in previous years they will be posting daily behind the scenes blogs, bringing all the Iceland related - 2008 Eurovision excitement and drama to the computers of dedicated fans back home.

I can't say that this song was my favorite at the semi finals here in Iceland. I actually hated it first but now it has started to grow on me.

My personal favorite was Haffi Haff - The wiggle wiggle song. It's great!! It's extremely popular here in Iceland.

Check it out.. url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwXjCsN3k2M]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwXjCsN3k2M/url]

If Iceland Doesn't win Eurovision this year i think it will be a shame as it is truly one of the best song that has been brought to the eurovision eastern europe might have said that entries were poor from western entries last year (obviously they didn't hear Edsilia and D'nash), but this year western europe has blown them out of the water this year of the eastern europe countries this year only a couple are worth listening to (you know who you are) the rest are all from the same boring mould. Iceland 2008

I absolutely LOVE the newest (and fourth!) version of this song! It's a more modern than the previous English version.

Go Euroband!

Aww man - why did they have to change the song AGAIN??

The version on YouTube is the best. The subtle lyric changes that can be heard on the version on that website are unnecessary and make the song sound less natural. The production changes overall have watered down the power and energy that the YouTube version has, and I'm now unsure whether the song is as good as it was previously.

I'm swaying towards Sweden more now that I've heard these changes. Bad work Iceland - don't change what ain't broken!! :(

Dear "v n" and "Ben Gray" - it is only my opinion. You can't say, that my opinion is pathetic. This song sounds like from 90's, and it is good only for children. Sorry, but this music is not for adult. I can promise you, that my country will not send votes for this song, maybe some of teenager girls. The song from Latvia is too very very bad, maybe good for Junior ESC. Open your eyes, please! I think, that many many other countries have better songs, vote please for them, not for this! For exaple San Marino has very good song, but the support for them is not so big like for Iceland. I don't understand that... This is my life is TRASHY song.

I'm Sorry =)))

I absolutely love the Icelandic song this year ! Having performed so many Eurovision songs as a band on the Icelandic stage, they will soon appear on the real European stage: just a great reward for these two eurovision fans. Good luck !

I read on their Myspace that they recorded an Icelandic version of Making Your Mind Up last year, except their lyrics translate to "We Win Next Year." We had the "Serbian promise" in 2006.... =P

I really don't like this song, i loved so many other entries from this years laugarsdagslogin but Miloš H's comment is so pathetic, it makes me sick that there r actually eurofans that think like that...get a life man...or to rephrase the song...THIS IS HIS LIFE!!!!

(Plus, i could turn your argument around and tell u that me too, i am so bored with so many heterosexual singers taking part every year...but fortunately i dont have such a low intellect....)

One´s private life should remain just like that: private. Iceland´s singers are fantastic. They can deliver a very good show and that´s what should matter.

How about that? They changed the song again. It still sounds utterly fantastic and I really, REALLY want Iceland to win this year now, if not Switzerland. Milos, I understand where you're coming from with your comment, but I must disagree, as a lover of both rock and dance/electronica music. I find it odd how this song is classed as "Europop" just because it's entered in Eurovision and carries that kind of style. The original Icelandic version I can understand being given that label, but if anything this is a real dance anthem! Such a shame Eurovision songs can only be 3 minutes because I can't get enough of it. It's actually taken what inspires me about schlager music and given it a violent shove into the 21st century!

I understand if dance isn't your taste but this song would be far from a tragedy to the contest if it wins. So what if Friðrik is gay? The two of them have fantastic singing voices and this whole song is made of douze points! The stage performance will make it or break it, because in the videos of their performance at the Icelandic final, there just isn't enough dancing going on there, and any dancing that is there doesn't work with the song.

GO ICELAND! REYKJAVIK 2009!!

Miloš H [41361]

The man from this group is gay, and the song sounds too very ...ehm... "homosexual"... Why is Eurovision in last years like competition only for homosexual minority??? Why we don't have more songs like "Deli" or the song of Teräsbetoni. Europe loves rock, not only this eurodancepopshit songs. Entry of Iceland last year was great, like our czech entry. More rock please! And I hope, that "This Is My Life" will not win this year Eurovision. Because it would be for this competition big tragedy!
P.S.: Dustin is OK, it is funny, Eurobandid is bad.

Greetings from Czechia! =D

I don't know if Iceland deserves to be 1st this year but it surely deserves to be in the top 10 of the final. I truly liked this song since I 1st listened to it because it has both pain and pride in its lyrics. The melody of its music and the power of its beat support this feeling of "pride" for... "this is my life and what will be, will be".
I think it's a more a Mediterranean approach (I speak about the lyrics). I have to admit that I self-confirmed my own words when I listened to the original song in the Icelandic Language because the orchestration there was more oriental I would say.
I find that Iceland took finally Eurovision seriously this year. Well Done Iceland & Well Done to You Euroband

OMG, Iceland deserves to win this year. If only the Orthodox brotherhood and the former Russian slaves could understand that Eurovison IS a song competition, there´d hardly be any vote for Dima Bilan and the like. Good luck, Iceland. I´ll give you 12 points.
