Malta: Cover versions of Eurovision entries popular in South Africa
On the CD, the songs are performed in a mixture of English and Afrikaans. Video clips were produced for both songs and the album, which only contains cover versions of international hits, is selling very well. Angel was the Maltese entry in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest written and performed by Chiara who finished 2nd in the final. Fabrizio Faniello, who also co-wrote his song, was less successful the year after and came last with only one point (from Albania). Another song on the CD has a Eurovision Song Contest connection as it partly samples Ne partez pas sans moi, the Swiss winning song in 1988 by Celine Dion.

I wanted to write the lyrics and see how close this is to Dutch, really the same, just a bit different use of words, but this site thought it were foul words!!!

How beautiful to hear Afrikaans which is old Dutch and we still can follow and understand it, wow wonderful

Are you bitter because Malta has generally performed better than Cyprus in ESC despite not having a guaranteed 12 points from any country almost every single year?

glad to hear malta's entries are becoming more popular out of europe...
I have nothing against Malta and Im sure its an exciting island with interesting people, but since the country started participating in the contest...hm I havent found a single entry to have as a favorite...also I feel that Malta is an overrated country in the contest especially in the 90s.
Still feel hurt that malta's song achieved easily a the top3 back in 1992 and Evridiki took the 11th place. -)

my eurovision week is already planned. I holding a party on the night of the first semi, my friend is holding another party on the night of the second ssemi and then the major celebrations start on the afternoon of the big day when myself and about 10 friends hold a eurovision themed fancy dress party and ahve a huge banquet and then watch the show in my house on a huge tv screen which i hire out for the week. Its such fun ....... then on the morning after we all have a eurovision themed breakfast with foods from the different countries........ its all so much fun until...... the reality hits that ESC is all over for another year....
... the depression ususally hits me on the sunday evening after the event. I feel worthless and lose all will to live... last year i went to bed for 3 days and only got up when my parents visited and thretened to have me sectioned in the local mental institution. I wish eurovision was on every week
