14th jury vote declared

OGAE Cyprus: Portugal 12 points

OGAE Cyprus members have declared their votes on the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, and clearly the fans from the sea encased country have been attracted to the Portuguese entry, awarding them 12 points in a landslide win ahead of host nation Serbia in second place. Interestingly, Greece just missed out on a point.

The OGAE Cyprus vote:

 • 12 points - PORTUGAL 884 POINTS
 • 10 points - SERBIA 780  POINTS
 • 8 points -   ICELAND 712 POINTS
 • 7 points -   ISRAEL 710 POINTS
 • 6 points -   ARMENIA 702 POINTS
 • 5 points -   SWEDEN 650 POINTS
 • 4 points -   ALBANIA 641 POINTS
 • 3 points -   NORWAY 637 POINTS
 • 2 points -   SWITZERLAND 611 POINTS
 • 1 point  -   UKRAINE 598 POINTS

THE COUNTRIES THAT FOLLOW ARE:

 • GREECE 572 POINTS
 • HUNGARY 516 POINTS
 • SLOVENIA 378 POINTS
 • ROMANIA 361 POINTS

The first 12 points of the year for Portugal sees them jump to eight place in the scoreboard, whilst another strong score for Serbia sees the 2008 host country fast closing in on second place. Iceland and Norway also continue their charge, both are now in touching distance of the top five.

Now that's a surprise... but if that would happen on the night on the final, it would probably become war...

don't consider the drug addicted "cypriots" who talk about cypriots who have nothin common to greeks!
we know all those "cypriots"
They are mafia's drug dealers who live in Cyprus trading their "stuff"!

All comments are well excepted, but please do not carry dangerous ideas. Cyprus 's official language is Greek, in which is written the constitution of the country. The Cypriot nation is Greek, because they feel that way and it was like this for ever.
There is not a Turkish country in Cyprus, but only a false-state, which was brutally made in 1974 due to the invasion of the island by the Turks.
In any case, you don't have the right to manipulate history.
So please, spare comments about history, because ESC is not about that.

Nice voting from Cyprus! They apparently really like ballads. xD I don't agree on the order but I'm content with this type 10.

It sucks that Cyprus real votes will not be like this in the semi. But at least they won't be able to vote for Greece. :)

It makes sense to me, all OGAE members wanted Kostas Martakis to represent Greece this year. I am sure he would do very well in the OGAE voting, but would totally flop in ESC.

@Xana Omm,
i m cypriot and i totally agree with you!! and thats why my country still remains divided!!! if u just accept our cypriot, first of all, identity, and not the greek or turkish, then we can live again in peace together!!
PEACE TO CYPRUS!

Here we can se, that in OGAE-Juries, there are sitting real Fans. & neither People that vote only for their Favourite Country, nor Experts.
Congratulation Cyprus!!!!!

Just because Cyprus and Greece speak the same language (although Cyprus also speaks Turkish), do they have to kiss each other's ass all the time???

I find it strange when I hear Cypriots say "We are Greeks". How about the Turkish Cypriots, are they Greek as well??? :( GREEK Cypriots are descendants from mainland Greeks but it doesnt mean they are Greeks. Cyprus should start building a Cypriot identity, just like Austrians did with Germans, Brazilians with Portugueses, Argentinians with Spanish, etc... I find it hilarious that both countries have the same national anthem...

i am sure that even if Greece sent Dustin the Turkey or Kreisiraasdio, Cyprus would still give these horros their 12 (or viceversa) and that is sad because it shows that people vote for country names first and not SONGS... that is the disadvantage of televoting although juries can be very corrupted as well.....

I find it rediculous to read comments like " shame to Cyprus for not voting for Greece"...

First of all those were Ogae votes and they don't represent the whole Cyprus. I cannot believe that Cyprus will not vote for Greece ( if Greece passes in the finals ) because Kalomira is popular there. But it doesn't have to be 12 points...

What worries me most is that Cyprus doesn't promote their entry "femme fatale". I think the song is faboulous but without promotion...and esc never has nes about the cypriot entry...isn't that unfair???

i wouldn't suprise if the ogae members of cyprus are not even cypriots (the most) because cyprus is full of english, swedish, norwegen and other people... and in cyprus very few people are esc fans, as i know...

and as you said, we exchange 12 points, but this happens because we listen to the same music, and we know everyone is famous in greece, and cypriot singers all moved to athens and they work there, so they are well-known in greece. for example, many of the stars in greece are cypriots: Anna Vissi, Michalis Hatzigiannis, Evridiki. Constantinos Christoforou...

For your information im a member of OGAE Cyprus and im appauled by these comments. Why should we give Greece 12 or 1 point if we didnt feel that it deserved it.?
Also i see no problem i was a jury member in 1996 in Cyprus and we didnt give Greece 12 so what? There were years when we didnt get the 12 of Greece so i dont know why this sudden problem.

Even though I don't like Cyprus and Greece exchanging their 12 points to eachother, but they should of given Greece 12 points this year because Greece has a very good song.

I've been very annoyed since I haven't been able to see the scoreboard for the OGAE votes, but I just realized that showing the page in full screen mode solves it. Just thought I'd post the info in case someone else has got the same problem.

This represents the votes of OGAE Cyprus and as in every country's OGAE voting, votes reflect the taste of the OGAE members. So don't judge the whole country from this result. Do you for example expect to see OGAE Greece voting for Cyprus? No way, however, Greece will vote for Cyprus if Evdokia goes to the final. Simple as that!

Shame on Cyprus! Kalomoira is great! Anyways, I'm glad to see Romania slips from the Top 10, hope it'll be around the bottom soon. Things will be pretty the same in the Final: Top 10 in the final (not a specific order) for - Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Serbia, Iceland, Malta, Switzerland, Portugal, Sweden and maybe Norway, Poland, Ireland and Spain. Sorry, no top 10 for the rest! Bottom for Estonia, Latvia, Montenegro, Finland, Moldova, and of course, my beloved Romania, which I absolutely hate it!

well, i don't have any idea who are in this ogae in cyprus... i'm an esc fan but i've never heard about them... and they gave 0 to greece??????? shame on you!! (i don't include myself in this sh!t of course...). they might be non-cypriots who live in cyprus... i can't explain this thing...

Finally, a country that recognises good, quality music. And no 12 points to Greece??????????? How, that's the cherry on top of the cake people!

Anyway: Good Luck Portugal - you deserve this win!

Shame shame shame!!! Cyprus didn't gave any points to Greece. Kalomoira's song is one of the best this year, how fair it is to give it 0 points, especcially from Cyprus???
OGAE voting is getting worse and worse

cyprus gave 8 points to turkey and thats why turkey took the victory in 2003 because turkey finish with 167 points, belgium with 165 points and russia with 164 points, if cyprus dont give 8 points turkey is going to take 3 place, ok the song was very very good and i vote it, i just want to say the reality, and pls @timour torgoise i dont understand about u r comment for the name of cyprus what do u mean "cyprus (what a name) ?" pls stop ironic comments about countreys names and speak about the songs ok? thank u
