[UPD] Spain: New date for Dancing chiki chiki

On Tuesday April 29th, Spanish broadcaster TVE will air a special programme to choose three backing dancers that will join Rodolfo Chikiliocuatre, Disco and Gráfica on the Belgrade stage next May 24th. The host of Dancing Chiki Chiki will be Santiago Segura, also responsible for the lyrics of the Spanish entry.

The show, to be aired next Tuesday on TVE1 at 22.00 CET, will feature the six finalists who made it to the final stage of this dance competition. Three of them will be chosen to accompany Rodolfo Chikilicuatre and his two main dancers Disco and Gráfica on their mission to save Eurovision this year in Belgrade.

Over 200 candidates took part in the early stages of the casting, held in Madrid, Barcelona and on the Internet. Being a professional dancer is not a must, stated Javier Roca, director of next Monday's show. "We are looking for people who meet Rodolfo and his girls' style", Roca added. The three lucky winners will follow the instructions of Maite Marcos, this year's Spanish choreographer.

The popular actor and comedian Santiago Segura, the man behind the lyrics of Baila el chiki chiki, will present Dancing Chiki Chiki. Viewers will watch several unseen images featuring Rodolfo's preparations for Belgrade.

UPDATE

The show was initially expected to be broadcast on Monday April 28th. Due to changes in TVE1's schedule for Monday evening, when an interview with the re-elected Spanish Prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero will be aired, Dancing chiki chiki has been moved to Tuesday 29th.

@ sean kehoe
Nah, even better I'm a Belfast man! Although I hope to working in Dublin soon maybe as one of those scumbags depending on who you are aiming that at.

Why are you worried about Ireland in the future though, Celtic Tiger may be waining but it ain't anything awful at least when compared to other countries like the UK or US?

@ Danny T

A culchie yes but bitter..no. Just fearful of the future of Ireland..and not just regarding Eurovision... as there is a scum element ...mostly Dubs.. in this country. Are you from Dublin?

@ sean kehoe
'Mostly uneducated scumbags in Dublin'

Sounds like the ramblings of a bitter cultchie.

Oh my god, Spain's entry gets tackier and tackier - are there really people out there who are going to subject themselves to public humiliation on the 24th of May? And to top it off people have to go through a gruelling TV show. I'm having to wipe myself down from all the tears of laughter.

DannyT [43795]

@ Fabio
I am shocked - were you actually complimenting the irish entry? kinda...

I think the nonsense lyrics though is all part of the joke. I still really enjoy this entry and I agree with Adalberto Iglesias that Disco and Gráfica crack me up. I really hope it does well because it is better than most of the 'serious' entries

Go to url=http://hiescp.ning.com/]http://hiescp.ning.com//url] and add your name in ESC comunity!

If you like the portuguese entry you can add the group APOIAR VANIA ATÉ À VITORIA!

Good Luck PORTUGAL

I think it's horrible when you guys use the word disgrace...about a democratically chosen song by the Spanish voters. Same for the Irish entry. You have no right to say that, maybe there are people around here who think the Maltese song os a disgrace, or the Swedish etc.... so do not use that word. I reckon winner will be one of the 5 following countries : Russia, Spain, Ireland, Belgium or Portugal.

TVE ,THIS IS A DISGRACE OF A ENTRY , SPAIN SHOULD HAVE TO QUALIFY FOR NEXT YEAR, AS THIS LOAD OF RUBBISH WILL BE IN BOTTOM 3 IN THE FINAL

i am hoping for Reykjavik 2009..... Wait and see how spectacular Ireland and Spain flops this year!! i will laugh loudly as Ireland fails muh hahahahaha muh haha. I ashamed to be Irish. Dustin is a disgrace and the numbskull morons..mostly uneducted scumbags in Dublin...... who voted for this should be banished from Ireland and forced to live somewhere dreadful ....like Moldova

Madrid, Moscow and Dublin are doomed. There's no chance for Spain or Ireland to win. In my opinion, Ireland will score higher than Spain. Remember the Turkey's song is in English, while he chiki-chiki thing is mostly in Spanish and nobody, besides Spaniards, will get the joke in it.

The lyrics in the Irish entry are witty and ironic, a parody of every ESC cliché. Just read the lyrics of the Spanish entry and you'll find there's nothing there:

José Luis dances it, he dances it very smoothly
Mariano dances it, my love, you know it
The brothers dance it, my brother dances it
My mulatta dances it with panties in her hand

Dance it with Alonso, dance it with Gasol
Dance it with your brothers, all around the world
Dance it with Bardem, dance it with Banderas
Dance with Almodóvar, dance la Macarena

What is so funny and clever in that? It's pure non-sense.

Jonny K i loved "Thinking thinking" :)

I think it could be a much better choise for Spain rather than this Chiki Chiki, although i can't stop laughing everytime i listen to it, the lyrics are so funny lolol

But still i don't think countries like Spain and Ireland with "mountains" of ESC tradition should allow this Comedy acts REPRESENT them!
It's a pitty they do.

@Peter Erikson

Than I hope your prediction is a total failure!!! Especialy not Madrid or Dublin!!! In this case I prefaire it would be Stockholm 2009 or Kyiv 2009 or most then ever Valletta 2009

@ Jonny K
