UK Eurovision Preview Party
Nanne Gronvall is London's final guest
Nanne is one of Sweden's most popular performing artists and has been a mainstay in the charts and on the theatre stage for twenty years. She took third place at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest with One more time performing the song Den vilda. She also won the televote in the 2005 Swedish national final, only to finish second due to the jury vote.
Nanne attempted to represent the United Kingdom in 2001, reaching the Song For Europe final with the song Men. She is returning to the United Kingdom to perform as special guest at the UK Eurovision Preview Party this Friday, 25th April at Scala in London.
The swedish star was forced to take a break from her career in 2006 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Feisty and determined as ever, she beat the illness and returned to the stage and to Melodifestivalen in 2007 with Jag måste kyssa dig . esctoday.com readers awarded her with the title of 'Past Participant of the year' in the 2007 esctoday.com awards. Now she joins Bucks Fizz and Paul Oscar as the special guests at the UK Eurovision Preview Party.

I hope she sings Håll om mig.
Loved Nanne in 2001 but Lyndsay Dracass was better, her song was very underated in Copenhagen - just watched it on You tube and it sounded great !

Are you joking?? Men was awful!! I watched it last night on youtube and I had to turn off after the first chorous!!
I hope she sings Men!!!!!
wooooo go nanne she will kick ass friday night!!!
Met Nanne a few years back and she is cool, one great lady with a huge soul and spirit. I admire her for beating cancer and living life to the full !!
Thank God Nanne didn't win ASFE in 2001. 'Men' was embarrassingly awful. Lindsey Dracass on the other hand was excellent.
This really is an ugly pic.

You can see Sebastian Tellier do a whole show at La Scala on 28 April.

Televoters won't vote for foreigners. I can't think of one example of a foreigner getting anywhere near winning a televote anywhere.
@ Zingo: I think the reason the UK public didn't go for Nanne was because of the OTT performance in ASFE (or whatever it was called in 2001!) and she was up against a 16-year-old 'local lass'. Wrong reasons, I know. I must admit No Dream Impossible was great to listen to but not good to watch. If Nanne had gone through at least we would have got some 12s from the Scandos.
If only to see Nanne I would have loved to go to this! She should have represented the UK in 2001 - I certainly voted for her over that lassie with the bad teeth. And as for Hall Om Mig, it's one of the best songs never to have made it to Eurovision. What were the Swedish juries thinking?!
I've got my tickets. Can't wait! A good line up - hoping for France to fill the final performance slot.
I bought 4 tickets, will be flying a Greek and French flag.... if you think about it, at Leicestersquare you buy half price tickets for 30 pound to see an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, we can see and enjoy 7 hours of delicious eurovision music and on top of that all those stage performances for a tenner..... Thanks guy, so looking forward to it...
I miss Night Elf grumbling that this has nothing to do with ESC 2008 and that nobody or better said NOBODY is interested in this topic.
Nanne is SOOO gonna rock the place!!
Everybody who think that the vodka-thing are gonna be the highlight, just wait to Mrs.Gronwall enters the stage... And i hope that all of you guys who is going are aware that you are in the presence of "near-pop-royalty" as Nanne are Benny Andersons (ABBA)
daughter-in-law.
Can't wait. Nanne is completely fabulous and as titchy as anything.
Couldn't really give two sh**s that she is goin I think this announcement is a bit of a buzz killer. Definitely think they should turf her out and give Dustin the performance position he deserves!!
wow i have just passed out that is amazing!!!!!!!!!!hall on mig!!!omg!!!
The final guest? Who's the other 2008 participant then?
Nanne i love you!!!
- Kevin Knight
- Garry Chelsea!
I agree, I thought Lindsay was excellent. The only problem was the awful rap interlude in the middle of her song, completely ruined the song. But her vocals were great!!
Does anybody think that this picture of Nanne at the top of the page, makes her look like Sonia (UK 1993) ??????
wow a ex soviet and yugoslav party!
buhh icelandic too!
Nanne looks awful in that pic. Please change it.
My God, don't you have a better photo of her? This one is creepy! It's almost cruel...
lindsay dracass was really good i thought
but it didnt help that the other 'electric' song of that contest was performed after us, and it was better
lyndsey draccas was fantastic and gave one of the best live vocals on the night, and also at esc she sounded fantastic

The reason why the UK always makes the "wrong descision" is cos the UK has very different musical tastes to continental europe. Take 2007 for an example, the UK public elected Scooch because we thought it was a total "eurovision" song. Whereas the rest of europe said we should have chosen Cyndi, who came second.
And in 2001, I think Lindsay Dracass was really good, she performed very well at the eurovision final, considering she was only 16 at the time!
Really looking forward to Friday Night
My Swedish housemate is particularly excited about Nanne!
See you there!
