Csezy meets James Blunt

Hungary: Listen to the finalised version of Candlelight

The finalised version of Candlelight, the Hungarian entry in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest has been enriched and slightly changed to produce a more polished outcome. Csézy recently travelled to Hamburg for her debut concert where she met with James Blunt who promised to give Hungary his vote in May.

Taking some time off her preparations for Belgrade, Csézy travelled to Hamburg for a debut concert organised by Warner Music Europe. The popular Hungarian artists was introduced to an audience comprising the most important music executives of international record companies by Bernd Dopp, Chairman & CEO of Warner Music Central & Eastern Europe.

Csezy also got the opportunity to meet in person with chart topping singer and composer James Blunt who was also in Hamburg for a concert. The two artists had long, friendly chat and James promised to give his vote to Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Apart from the Eurovision version you can watch below, Csezy, under the instruction of the well-known music producer, Florian Richter, known for his work with Sarah Connor aming other artists, also recorded another all-English version of Candlelight without the instrumental intro which will be released at a later date.

great song - reminds me of Barbara Streisand. This will be the dark horse of the contest - Top 5

I also liked it more in Hungarian, even if it's my favourite entry this year. But let me say the English lyrics are no worse than any other entry this year. We could say the same about Sweden, Czech Republic, Greece, Russia, Macedonia, Andorra and so on.

Btw, I love her accent and the velvet in her voice. It doesn't hurt in my ears, at least. I can't say the same about Magdi and her boring blues... Dreadful.

The translation is killing. I´d rather listen to it only in Hungarian.

Its a lovely melody and her voice is warming, but the english lyric is poor - it just sounds awkward.... rushing words to fit them in - its a real shame. Stick to Hungarian for success....

@ v n
I had to laugh when you said that you identify Ireland with ballads considering what we have sent this year. It certainly makes you think nostalgically! I still love Dustin though but Ireland could churn out a good ballad

On this I think it is nice but Magdi last year was just another level of excellent from Hungary so whatever they sent this year probably wouldn't have compared. I am just not convinced Csezy will sing that well live and the song doesn't really stand out for me although she is very beautiful and the song does have a classy element to it.

I liked the Hungarian version and I also liked the english one. But I don't see the point of these few lines in Hungarian in the middle of an english version. What does she want to show by that? Does she want to convince the listeners that her knowledge of the Hungarian language is very good? :)) Please keep it either in Hungarian or in english but not such a stupid mix. Now she looses my vote.

Loved both versions, sziveress & candlelight, and this final mix of both is Hungary's second in a row awesome entry.
If they keep on this way i think we'll soon indentify classy jazzy tunes with the Magyar way, as we have identified ballads to Ireland or plastic teen pop to sweden.

Definetely in my top 10.

yes I agree the native Hungarian version sounds cool ... This is good but it has lost his specific sparkle after the English translation ..... Good luck :)

Great final version, I'd been looking for a 3 minute English version for ages. Nice little bit of Hungarian in there too which is only right, I think. I used to think this song was boring and average but now I can see the really classy side to it, and Czesy has a lovely voice with perfect live singing ability. Best of luck to Hungary.

From the beginning this song was my favourite song this year. I prefere it in Hungarian but also love the English version.
But I am afraid that it won't score very good :-(
I'd really love to see Hungary, Norway or Portugal to win
