One thing all of us seems to forget is that "The big 4" aren´t especially sponsors to E.S.C. in particular, but the whole E.B.U organisation in general. and it has all been worked out in the organization by the hig and mighty guys on the top.
There might have bee a time when "the 4 big ones" was the leading broadcasting companies in Europe, but those days are long gone. Nowadays good old BBC can´t produce a "BIG" tv-series (Like "The earth" ;) without help from several national tv-companies across Europe. So why should´t it be about the right time to release them from their econonical duties towards the E.S.C.?
Afer all, we are now well over 40 partisipating countries in the contest. And i am sure that we could find a way to pay for the event without giving 4 countries carte blanche to sail direccly to the final with less than average entries.
Everybody should have to cualify.. (Exept for the host-country, who would make a great show-starter by being the first entry in the contest.
Perhaps we should try a couple of years with jury-voting only?
I for one don´t think the final result would have differ that much from todays system as it is obvious that "the new countries" are putting a lot more effort into finding an entrance that actually has a sertain amount of quality..

Go to url=http://hiescp.ning.com/]http://hiescp.ning.com//url] and add your name in ESC comunity!

If you like the portuguese entry you can add the group APOIAR VANIA ATÉ À VITORIA!

I think I will agree with James. The entries that are going to be more notable this year are the ones of Sweden, Serbia, Russia, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Ireland. This is what everyone has been talking about on this and other sites too. Sweden has the perfect "schlager" song which is not bad at all in my opinion, and she is going to score really well. I think she is the one who really deserves a victory this year as she is the one who has a career, a good voice and is also making careful and wise preparations for the contest. It is true that Serbia and Russia are the countries that are going to be with Sweden on the top of the score board. Besides their mediocre entries this year they will gain the votes of all the Yugoslavian and Soviet countries... Western countries are not going to do well, but Portugal and Switzerland are the ones standing out from the Western and always unfairly condemned area of Europe and that are going to attract real eurofans with taste. Now, as for Ireland and Spain; Ireland goes from bad to worse every year, this year showing that since they already got 7 decent and popular victories, they'll try something really bad as they don't care, and this could result to their 8th and reicilous victory. Spain... hmmm... they have always sent nice songs, like Rosa in 2002, or last year however this year they show the intention to treat the contest like France and England...

Done - I have voiced my opinion.
Can I recommend watching some of the old shows again. There's a big difference in the results since televoting was introduced. I hope the EBU start redressing the balance by bringing a 50/50 jury system. At least that might see off Dustin and Rodolfo.

I think all the internet polls will not show us the eventual outcome of the results. I think Sweden will do well, and will get constant votes from everywhere but Serbia and Russia will get exceptionally high votes from the east, so im doubtful Sweden will carry off the prize. Portugal will do well as they are a favourite for many western countries and the song will stand out again for eastern Europe, particularly in the balkans. Ukraine and Bulgaria will do well, and i think Switzerland will be more highly regarded in the west.
It will be interesting to see whether any of the big 4 will do well. For me this year Germany has the best of those entries,a contemporary Pop tune which could be sung by any girl band from any country and do well in the national charts but it wont do well on the night, and France which is always keen to come up with different unique entries has done so again really well this year but i dont see it scoring well enough! Spain's entry this year needs to score badly, i love Spains entries normally and always follow their national finals, but this year, hmmmm.
As for the UK whose selection of entries this year was laughable, (i honestly cannot believe the BBCs attitude towards the contest, i mean, can anyone who lives in the UK actually recall hearing our entry on the radio since it was chosen, and compared to our charts at home, this song is total *****. My opinion is that when the BBC start taking a more serious approach to the competition and stop allowing Terry Wogan to talk about himself and himself some more in all his interviews and on the night itself, and stop the whole "well no-one is gonna vote for us attitude" which is crap, then we might have a half-decent entry for once. So yes we will do badly, and imjust hoping that either Malta or Ireland can just give us a point to save us from another "0" point entry which i honestly can see happening! Sorry if im being negative! I LOVE EUROVISION

A very good survey. I voted for 50% jury/50% televote, but was in a dilemma when it came to the Big4. I think that it's fair that they have some benefit from their financial participation, however, it seems that direct qualification to the finals has actually harmed them, since people from other countries are less inclined to vote for them. (Maybe we get another voting-block: the Big4?)

Hello I'm from germany and I agree with winter wonderland's opinion! I' m so bored that germany every year sucks at ESC
but I don't think, that germany has a chance to come into the final even if it takes part at the semi final =( cause some people still have prejudices against it, MY votes are made by my music taste and not by my political opinions! =)

I agree, 50/50 jury and televoting....

The main reason why televoting must not be stopped is simple, ppl like watching show in which they can be part of it. I think if televoting is removed from the contest interest for Eurovision would be less... FOR SURE... Other thing if we give jury to vote every year instead of us it's only few ppl deciding for whole country... I don't think ppl like that ether...

On the other hand without jury we won't have winer from west any more (except maybe Sweden or Switzerland this year so I think if they wins rules would not be changed), so jury is also needed...

Jury-televoting 50% each is great idea....

Did the survey! :D
I also like 50/50 jury/televote. But I don't think the Big 4 should go directly to the final. They should be in the semis. Why? Because they'll have a better chance of winner if people hear their entries twice. It can be an advantage. Plus people might actually vote for them. Usually people don't vote for the big 4 because they don't see a point - they'll be in the final next year anyway.
I don't see the advantage of being in the final automatically each year, to be honest.

50 / 50 jury and televoting and yes the big 4 should be qualified direct to the final if only so some countries from the west can make it

please note that there is a bug in this poll : once you've chosen your favorite countries, they suggest that you classify them on the next page. BUT the list for classification is not the list of your favorites !!!
hahahaha
