@ Fan since 1976
Yes, I know that Carolin has done Mamma Mia - she also took part in the German Grand Prix-Party in 2003, I think. I knew her face before, too.
But seriously, you can't say that she was famous in Germany. (In fact, you can't really say that she IS now famous - I'm sure the majority of the people have already again forgotten her name)...

Germany all the way this year - I absolutely love the song.

@ Max Raspail
Carolin Fortenbacher wasn't completely unknown because of her main role in Mamma Mia. She smiled down from 1000s of bills for years all over Germany.
Music doesn't only happen on TV and radio.

I heard the No Angels a few times since the national final. Their live performances were each time better than at the national final. They must have had a bad day at the time of the national final. Although I don't even think that it sounded really bad then.

And they also sang "Disappear" one time in a different style. But I don't know if they will sing it this way at the ESC, too.

I prefered Caroline aswell. Watching the German selection, those No Angels girls have no real appeal I fear. The voices were bad, the song is mediocre. No I think UK and France have the best songs from the big 4. But I really do believe that Spain will be the only of the 4 that will get lots of votes and will end up in top 5.

@ Ben Gray
That wasn't really a surprise. The No Angels are a well-known group (btw the most successful girlgroup of Continental Europe) while Carolin Fortenbacher was completely unknown in Germany.
It WAS a huge surprise that Carolin came to 49,5 per cent of the votes - only a few votes behind the No Angels.
However, each of them would have done bad - Carolin because of the fact that she had a ballad - although I really ADORED it, I'm realistic enough to wonder WHO in Europe would vote for a GERMAN BALLAD...
...and the No Angels won't end up high because of the boring refrain of their song, the fact that Germany always does bad - no matter the song - and perhaps also of the girls' lacking singing skills in this song...

Yeah, I totally agree, Carolin Fortenbacher was AMAZING!!! and she was singing in German aswell, which I liked. The only trouble was that if she was picked, she would have been surrounded by ballads at this years contest, because there are sooo many ballads this year. No Angels are great also though, but unfortuantley I doubt they will get a top 10 because they are very similar to Precious (UK 99), and Precious only came 13th. But hey, I want Germany to do well because Roger Cicero was great last year and truly deserved a top 5 :D

Good luck to Germany from the UK!!! :) :L :D ;)

ben gray: no carolines song was a 90-s ballad... very boring for 2008. No Angels song is at least from this side of the millenium.... Caroline might have done better in eurovision. but it would never have done good outside of eurovision which No Angels are doing :)

Germany has a nice song this year, but the No Angels can't sing live very well. Carolina Fortenbacher would have been FAR better and would have been a REAL test of the theory that an big 4 country never does well. I was really surprised that the No Angels beat her.

after one of the most decent entries last year with an excellent singer, back to the flop recipe with 4 screeching owls....
every act in the german nf deserved to take their place
