Sweden leads

Demandi first poll results

Almost 2.000 votes have been cast in the Demandi poll so far and Sweden, Ukraine, and Switzerland are in the lead. A stunning 60% of the participants declare that they want a mixture of televoting and jury vote.

This is the Demandi poll participants' top five so far:

1. Sweden (35.47%)
2. Ukraine (28.11%)
3. Switzerland (26.05%)
4. Iceland (23.75%)
5. Serbia (23.52%)

Six out of ten participants feel that televoting is not the ideal way to select the winner and they believe that a 50-50 mixture of televoting and jury vote would be the best way. Most participants (64%) feel that the quality of the song is the most important factor for a country to win, but almost one third of the voters also thinks that the country of origin plays and important role as well.

Despite certain aspects of the show causing a stir, fans of the show remain loyal. The majority of participants have been watching it for well over 10 years and a great deal of those for over 20 years.

You can vote in the Demandi poll here.

@ Fabio Deluca

U said about charlotte: "It's just a basic and tacky dance routine, no Ginger Rogers for sure... Well, we know the queenies out there love this kind of stuff.

Its the eurovision u reta*d. What do u expect. Ur from argentina, how many times have they win the eurovision?? huh, answer that u t*ol! I'll answer it for u, there nt even in it. So what do u know. How about try seven times for ireland and 5 times for sweden. Ur a fan since 2004, ur a baby on this scene.

Ur job less i c too, that wouldn't be too hard for u to achieve that, ur brian less.

"I'm getting ready for the forthcoming 52nd esc"....ur a long time waiting it seems and u still have a nice few days left yet. Sher go away and browse around the internet & write utter rubbish in ur spare...oh wait, all ur time is spare time....LOL

To ur top 15 for 2008 esc in ur profile or should i say ur "Sh*t List", u might as well set that thing on fire. A load of sh*t u have there. Hungary first... go back to bed for a few years will you and stop smoking coc*ine. Ur profile picture needs changing too....a bit "campie ca*p" to be honest with u.

Referring to "hero" and the eurovision, its a song contest nt a dance contest or who has the best dance. U mup*et. She has the power, presence, amazing voice and to be honest, i think u see her as a major treat to ur amazing "Sh*t List".

I hope she wins to pi*s u off...its nt like u can vote for ur favourite anyway. HA HA.

Go Sweden. And remember: "This is a story of love and compassion, only heros can tell :)

Charlotte ur our winner!!!

I don't know about Switzerland and Iceland, but I absolutely expect the other three to be in the top10. And so will Turkey and Russia, I'm sure.
My personal favourite at the moment is Portugal, and I hope they will be successful this year, if only to make up for all those times they deserved so much more than they got.

AZERBAIJAN and TURKEY

I'm still convinced that we'll have a first time winner once again, so according to this poll's results it should be Iceland!
I'm glad Paolo had such a good result, though. :-)

Hope to that the favourite countries remain in the SEMIS and all those which are not mentioned triumph to the TOP 10

This year it is going to be a surprise for sure. No Sweeden, no Ukraine and no Russia. I see surprise like Belgium, Cyprus and Armenia or Serbia again

Sweden, Switzerland and Iceland won't make it anywhere near the top 5 in the real world. Western music is yesterday's news in the Eurovision Immigrant Contest.

v n:
I beg your pardon, I wasn't nagging. I just wondered whether 24 points would be enough for "Hero" to qualify. I'm not convinced that Sweden will qualify as I don't trust the polls either. And, I didn't even vote for "Hero" in MF but pinned my hopes on BWO.

It is clear Russia or Ukraine!

My God..the perelli thing didn't even manage to win her country's televoting! And we r talking about sweden! They prefered to vote for a ballad than this plastic thing they ve grown up listening to...

How can anyone in the world believe she has any hopes in eurovision. Thank god most of the ppl in the night have some real good music taste. Thank god eurovision fans votes consist less than 1%.

Otherwise, we would still listen to carola today.

Anyway, a win of sweden or russia, would just be the worst case scenario for ESC. It would prove that block voting can produce winners.

@Stockholm calling
You have two 12s (or10s) ready from the semi! What more do u want. We r talking about semis!!! Thats why EBU tried to break your f....ing blocks! But, still countries like sweden and russia have an advantage against countries with no blocks. And u r still nagging!!!!

Fabio, so what you are saying is that 35% of the people taking part in this particualr poll are queenies? ;)
I haven't voted in the poll, but I do like the Swedish song, just like the Portuguese, Swiss and Serbian songs. Why are some fans so bitter, and sometimes rude, about other people's favourites? Lighten up, it's not as if our lives depend on the results of the eurovision song contest!

@ Tomás Mannix:

If you saw Charlotte in the Swedish final, I wonder what is so incrdible there. It's just a basic and tacky dance routine, no Ginger Rogers for sure... Well, we know the queenies out there love this kind of stuff.

@ john smith
yes the portuguese song and performance are excellent . i love the way the song builds to a fantastic climax. the only problem being it reminds me a lot of molitva , so maybe its too similar to do well so soon after. ii really hope it does well though

How do you know the performance?

John Smith [47041]

Portugal has the best singer, performer and song. Vania will probably wash away all these comments about Sweeden's entry. There's no need people - it just won't win!! Portugal will - believe me!

A Swedish victory would be healthy for Eurovision. However, I think the favourite to win is Dima Bilan from Russia.

OK People here are my views on the Perelli results!

Personally I love the song and it is my joint favourite, however realisticly I don't see schlager music winning eurovision anymore, so I don't think Sweden have a great chance of winning, but you never know, they might just! I reckon that Charlotte will qualify, and will finish 3 - 7th in the final! :L
