Eurovision 2008: Your guide to Belgrade!

Tickets? Check! Rooms? Check! Passport? Check! Belgrade guide? You can check that as well now! For all of you ready to fly off to the Serbian capital for the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest this May here is the first timer's guide to the city complete with everything from the best way to stop a taxi to a survival phrasebook.

Rastko Colja, a dedicated fan and friend of esctoday.com, has gone to great pains to compile a guide for Belgrade complete with information on transport, telephony, postal services, a guide to Belgrade's landmarks with full historical information and even as short phrase book. Particularly useful we found the directions and information on bus routes to get to the Euroclub and the Arena from all over the city.

You can download Rastko's guide to Belgrade here.

Here you can find an interactive map of Belgrade.

Esctoday.com would like to thank Rastko Colja for his amazing offer to our readers!

Yeah, we do have a box, but unfortuanatley our signal has got worse and worse over the years, up until the point where we can't recieve BBC3 anymore!! Its because I live in the south downs, so the signal is very patchy around there ;)

I hope its on the iplayer, RTE are allowed to show a re-run on their website, so I don't think it should be a problem for the BBC. But the best way to do it is to just buy the DVD, then you can watch it wherever, whenever!!! :D

Johnny, we bought a realy cheap box from Argos, like 20 pounds or so and can watch BBC3.... last year they had really cool commends over there, especially that girl. Forgot her name, my in a few days first delegations will arrive in Belgrade and start rehearsing.....

@ Adamus
There is only the TRT International that will broadcast the 2nd semi for me.. there are other channels but i dont have em.. The first semi is full of channels like Armtv, Romanian International, RTR Planeta, ORT... So, get TRT..LOL.. Just my opinion..

@ Daniel: If you can get the German TV in Poland, you can watch the 1st Semi live on German NDR via Satellite. The 2nd Semi is broadcasted later (the night from thursday to friday at 0:45 am). You can watch the 2nd Semi live via Satellite on RTP (Portugal).

@ Benjamin Johnson
It probably will be on the iPlayer cos they put everything on it now, even football, rugby matches and athletics events they have shown.

As a constant traveler to Beograd, be aware of the many taxi-drivers at the exit of the terminal. You'll see what I mean. They are not licensed. They should not charge you over 1500 dinar (25 USD) for a ride into the ciy. I would recommend taking the slavija bus (2 Euros) and then cabbing it from inside the city.

Also, you can look for ADA park, it is a large park with beaches. If you feel like a stroll, there is always something going on there.
