Both semifinals on IBA
OGAE Israel: 12 points to Sweden!
Israel's entrant to Belgrade, Boaz Mauda, was happy to meet the Eurovision Song Contest's fans, who all gave him a warm welcome. Mauda answered questions by the curious fans and was happy to be informed that dozens of them will be supporting him in Serbia. Oshrat Papir, Mauda's partner in the duet 'Butterflies' in the Kdam-Eurovision was also present. This was a nice coincidence, since it was also the occasion when the song was selected by the members to represent OGAE Israel at the OGAE Second Chance contest. IBA's head of delegation, Yoav Ginay, was another guest. He broke some good news to the crowd, when he declared that IBA will broadcast both the 2008 semifinals.
The club members and guests voted beforehand for both semifinals (voting for Israel was allowed) and the 20 qualifying countries were: Ukraine, Israel, Slovenia, Hungary, San Marino, Armenia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iceland, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Turkey, Russia, Norway, Bulgaria, Portugal, Poland, Switzerland and Sweden. The crowd then voted for the final. 4 countries finished last with null points, all of them consisting of the 'Big 4' countries: Spain, United Kingdon, France and Germany. The top 10 result is:
- 12 Sweden
- 10 Switzerland
- 8 Portugal
- 7 Norway
- 6 Turkey
- 5 Serbia
4 Israel (Came 7th but excluded from the overall OGAE's Scoreboard) - 4 Iceland
- 3 Albania
- 2 Hungary
- 1 Ukraine
The result leaves Sweden with a huge 83 point gap over second placed Switzerland. Serbia remain in third, clear of fourth placed Armenia who failed to pick up points from Israel, leaving Ukraine, Norway and Iceland in the race for the top four.

A few people are saying that Charlotte is a bitch and Sweden always send the same song every year? Why? First: what is the same with Spirits are calling my name and Hero? And Sweden tried to send diffrent, The Ark 2007...but What did europe do? You took Sweden down because of that! IN SEMI FINAL 2 , I WILL VOTE TO UKRAINE.
OGAE clubs are made of ESC-fans. It's same fans that vote on every poll. That's why we will get the same result in every poll. But think on the millions of viewers that have not heard the songs yet. That people does not take part in polls or forums, and it's that people who will decide the winner, not the fans. In my opinion, the Swedish entry will not grab everybody's attention. The best songs are in semi 2, and Sweden has only two 12's guaranteed: the ones from Iceland and Denmark. The rest is quite unpredictible, but I am afraid Latvia, Turkey, Lithuania, Belarus and Georgia will cast the top marks to Ukraine. It's possible Czech Republic, Macedonia and Croatia will vote for Ukraine as well. So, the panorama for Sweden is not that clear. Quality wise, many other songs are fairly superior than Sweden, too.
Stian, that's not the reality, that's your theory. There always has to be one startposition that's having worse statistics than the other ones. I bet that startposition number 2 has no curses making it impossible to go through to the final from it.
I finds it really odd (but sometimes even amusing) when people here say they know how the result will and not will be. No one knows - every year there are suprises - and that's also a part of the fun of Eurovision. Perhaps Charlotte stays in the semi, perhaps she goes to the final, perhaps she wins. We will know in a few weeks.

Sergio Poul, you should say something about your fellow Swedish patriot, because it's thanks to him people get so annoyed about the Swedish entry. It's nothing against Sweden, but sometimes 1 person (that kameleon with 5 or more profiles here) can spoil it for a whole nationality. And now I am so fed up with him that I can not even stand your entry anymore. I sincerely hope that Sweden will fail big time. Can not wait. Sorry my friend, but enough is enough....

Dude if you don't like Swedich song it is your business and a meter of your test. We can all respect that. Everybody has favorites. But think before writing such coments as "Swedes are stupid people" etc. Belive me, Swedes are smarter than you at list, because they dont call you stupid......

Votes of OGAE is not the thing that we can define winner by, but if people of different nationalities and tastes give to this song their highest points it means that this song can be loved by absolutely different countries and people on ESC too and it will be loved no matter what number it has. The main goal is to qualify to the final and to take there better number, though it can't be worth number than second in semi. We believe Charlotte will win! I just believe in her and this song Iike never believed in some other ESC song. And I can't understand why it's compared with Invincible, there were no so big noise around Carola in 2006 even closer to this.
