Day 3: Lithuania, Albania and Switerland

Lithuania, Albania and Switerland take to the fantastic Belgrade stage for the afternoon session of Eurovision Song Contest second semi final rehearsals in Serbia.

Song 5 - Lithuania - Jerominas Milius - Nomads in the Night

Jerominas sings along on the stage to present his entry Nomads in the Night.  He sings with conviction and emotion, whilst making a strong connection with the camera. He ends up on his knees to deliver the last line of the song. Dry ice and strobe lighting are used for effect at the end of the song, although this presentation is relatively free of gimmicks.

Song 6 - Albania Olta Boka- Zermën e lamë peng
Olta delivers a very simple and pleasant version of her song on the Eurovision Song Contest stage.  She performs with a three piece band consisting of two guitarists and a pianist.  She has a delicate quality to her voice which picks up the haunting melody of the song perfectly.  Floating pink hearts are displayed on screens behind Olta.  Again this is a relatively gimmick free performance with the camera focusing on close up pictures of the singer.

Song 7 - Switzerland- Era stupendo
Husky voiced Paolo performs on stage with a pianist and two male and two female singers and dancers.  For the slow section of the song he stands alone at the front of the stage, and is later joined by his companions on stage for the up-tempo section.  The dancers perform a transitional dance routine for this song with plenty hand waving and finger clicking.

I am very disappointed with Switzerland. Can those backing singers stay at home or try to learn to sing in one week? Sorry but if Swiss performance do not improve a lot, Paolo will follow DJ Bobo steps.

Albania is great..... although I was hoping for some nice dancing to suit the drama of the song! Oh well, still great!! I really hope Albania qualify along with Georgia and my other favourites! :)

GO OLTA, GO ALBANIA! :)

Cute girl from Albania. She must be either unhappy in Serbia or very shy. -))))) (funny the way she left the stage after the song ended)

IMO, this is the best Albanian entry so far and Id be happy to see it in the final.

Actually, i didn't like none of them, but Albania's performance is the way better than Swizterland adn Lithuania. Switzerland dissapointed me soo much :( Plagiat and plus this bad performance, sorry, but no way Paolo. Alhough Era Stuoendo is one of my favourite songs at ESC 2008.

Switzerland. From those 3 songs i like Era Stupendo, but after the first rehearsal bad performance of Paolo + the thoughts that this song is a plagiat have made me think about it again. So, i have decided that for this time i say NO for Era Stupendo, though i like the song :(

Albania. I expected more, but it is not bad.

Lithuania. I don't like it.

Switzerland is my second favourite after Azerbaijan. Paolo's performance was a bit shaky today but I think it will be great in the semi.

Now I managed to watch the Lithuanian performance. The song is dreadful, but Jeronimas is not that bad. He sang quite well, even if he failed to deliver the final note. He left the stage in a state of total frustration...

to Johanna, are You a part of jury? :) I think,no :) The observers said that everything was good and the performance was better than in NF.And well, don't forget that this is REHEARL and be patient to see how it will looki in semi.

Lithuania - I dont really have so much to say about this song. Personally I think its horrible and I swear to god that 95% of the viewers at home will use this song as a bathroom-breake.
I really dont understand how they could send a song like this.
Lithuania has been the absolut worst esc-country for me for many years now.

Albania - Surprised actually. She sings better than I though and she looks hot (at the albanian NF she did look like a donkey).
Her voice really matches the tune of the song (as someone said).
Concidering the countries in the second semi, im sure this will qualify. If not, the jury might help it.

Switzerland - Average performance but a very good song.
I think this is the type of song that needs an excellent performance to be able to blow us and the viewers at home away. The song is very good and the only thing that could stop it from going to the final is a horrible performance in the semi-final.

I didn't like the Swiss performance at first, and now I like it even less. Paolo's performance was away from being satisfactory. The guys from san Marino were a lot better.

Olta Boka was nice, she looks even better now, more feminine. But I am not sure about those hearts floating in the background. It's to tacky, and does not add anything to the song. Totally out of place.

Lithuania: I was not able to view the video, as it no longer available. But I don't like the song, I am not very excited about it.

The only good thing about the Swiss rehearsal was that I can now remove Switzerland from my list of possible winners.

COMPLETELY boring! The act will have a very hard time coming on stage after Sweden, Ukraine and Turkey, amongst others. Vocals aren't great either. It falls right inbetween a simple but sophisticated ballad-show (Molitva) and a more coreographed entry - meaningless. Sorry Switzerland.

to Morgan.Lithuanian singer said to be working on that and his song might NOT sink between other ballads. Not sure about the video, but it seems that it will be corected, cause the quallity was bad.

3 slow songs move after 4 upbeat entries which have all qualifying potentials.. Lithuania, first on the round, will get killed, the entry has nothing to remember by itself, and with such a simple live, as effective as it can be, it will be outshadowed by what comes next.. Albania is the nice surprise, not fan of this entry (it stole the albanian victory to many many many better entries), it's very effective tender and honnest, it might increase an average balkan entry a far inch (but enough to qualify?).. then comes huge fave Switzerland in the so typical typical italian male ballad.. it will go through just like the irish male boring ballad managed an incredible 10th spot in esc 2006.. but don't expect the top 5 for this.. it's just effective enough to bring the votes of ballad lovers but that's it..

How could Paolo play football in Rome last night and then fly straight away to Belgrade and have his first rehearsal??? This is too much!!! He shouldn't have taken part in the match this time! They could have done without him for once. I hope he gets his due rest in the next days and improves his performance.

Nej,must be the very first victory for Lithuania :) The song is meanigfull, the sengires voice is unique(in ESC at least) ,the performance has a good idea. The format of song is nearly classical, but classic can't be old-fashioned and,it seems,it is the only song, which could bring ESC back to MUSIC,not political or circus arena.Peace and good luck, everyone.
P.S. Thequallity of the video is very bad,but it is not Jeronimas fault. :)
