Dutch backing singer wants to give it a try

Netherlands: Ellen for Eurovision 2009?

One of the three Dutch backing vocals, Ellen Eeftink, is interested in a Eurovision participation next year. That's what she told to esctoday.com this afternoon, during a short interview in the city town of Belgrade.

Ellen told us that she'd love to take part next year. 'If Dutch broadcaster NOS would ask me, I' d say yes immediately. I love this contest, so when I was asked to become one of Hind's backing singers this year, I didn't have to think. I'd love to give it a try next year as a solo artist.'

The Dutch singer, who became third the third edition of Idols, made clear that if she was asked by NOS, she'd prefer to sing a ballad in next year's Eurovision Song Contest. ' On the other hand, an up tempo song, might be better for Eurovision. In that case I' d like to do it all over the top; I would bring all the glitters and feathers on stage. But of course the quality of a song goes above all.'

On the other hand the two other Dutch backing singers, Carolina Dijkhuizen and Peggy Sandaal, aren't too interested in a Eurovision participation as a solo artist. Carolina: ' It's great to do it this way, but I' d never consider to take part as a solo artist. I just don't like the competitive part of contests.'

During our meeting with the Dutch delegation this afternoon, it became clear that the Dutchies are enjoying their stay in Belgrade to the fullest. Ellen: 'It's been amazing until so far; we have a great team and we were very satisfied about the first rehearsal as well. Yesterday evening we were all dancing on our tables after our dinner in a restaurant. We're really enjoying ourselves!'

what about Ilse de Lange with a 'Great Escape' kind of song?
is this the Ellen from Idols btw? if so, she was my fave the year she participated, so she really should give it a try. I'm sure Nikki or Nathalie from Idols 2007 would be a choise for the future. At least Nathalie isn't really a person you forget easilly. As long as we don't send in Rafaella, cause she can't sing.
The biggest names are afraid to participate I'm sure, but there are so many great bands in the Netherlands.

I think we would even make a good impression with songs likethe hit Stuart feat Lara McAllen - Free (let it be). that was a dutch production and it would fit something new. I hope we'll be able to send in something like that sometime.

Wouldn't NOS ask Gerard Joling again, as they already wanted him back this year ?

MOR VE ÖTESİ-(CRAZY) TURKEY

Sounght, the owner of my soul
Did I fall fight into the spot?
Resisting the subject of my passion
Angered and shrunken
Sounght, the owner of my soul
Did I fall right into the spot?
Resisting, resisting, resisting...
Raise me
Don’t make me cry
Where is the love
You’re so proud of
Raise me
Don’t make me cry
Don’t waste my time
With fake dreams
Sougt, theowner of my soul
Did I fall right into the spot?
Resisting, the subject of my passion
Angered and shrunken
Soungt, the owner of my soul
Did I fall right into the spot?
Resisting, resisting, resisting...
Raise me
Don’t make me cry
Where is the love
You’re so proud of
Raise me
Don’t deceive me
With fak dereams Half sane, half crazy I am
Sane all around me, crazy, one side of me
Everbady else sane, crazy, only me
Crazy, only me...
Raise me
Don’t make me cry
Where is the love
You’re so proud of
Raise me
Don’t make me cry
Don’t waste my time
With fake dreams

Do, Anouk, Within Temtation, Anneke v Giersbergen, Wende, Blof....There are so many artists who could respresent the Netherlands. I would ad Hind to the list if she wasn't participating this year, so here she is. I support her 100%. I think the reactions from abroad are quite optimistic, however the Dutch reactions are quite negative. This is so "typisch Nederlands", isn't it really ?!

I like Hinds song very much. But drawn directly after Armenia with almost the same style of song Netherlands will have a hard time again. :(

The thing is that the Netherlands always give us good songs (except for 2006!!lol) but their songs always seem to lack impact, however I think this year Hind has that impact and the Netherlands could qualify!!! I hope so, in my top 10 this year!

Good luck from the UK!!! :L :D :L :D :L :D :L

I don't know her, but a ballad with quality would be great. :)
And Hind is amazing! I really wish, she will qualify to the final, but i'm afraid this won't happen. The people don't recognize her so much! :S

It can only happen, Max, if some people serious make work of the contest. A singer like Anouk is probably not even aware of the possibility to compete. The format NOS has used the last two years secures our taking part, because it hardly costs any money. Like most public broadcasters NOS has limited resources. What needs to be done, is a broadcaster like BNN, VPRO or VARA interrested in the contest. (In the Dutch system all these broadcasters are public and operate under NOS). These three broadcasters are known for younger modern style music.

Sorry, but I've lost almost all my faith in the dutch participation in the contest. Wich is sad, becous the Netherlands are among my dream-hosts! You know, every year they send amazing singers, but there songs got no spirit at all! Well, In 2005, they got a really good entry...but was of course robbed!

So. Good luck Ellen! But unfortunately, I doesn't expect so much good things about next years dutch entry either!

@ w s
God, Anouk would be a dream come true... ;)
But is it realistic that she could represent the Netherlands in Eurovision?

Ellen is great. She was my favourite that year. But I wan't a real star for my country: Anouk, Krezip, Kane, Stevie Ann, Bløf. Or a DJ/producer like Sander Kleinenberg, Gregor Salto, Don Diablo.
