German journalists decide
Serbia: Deutche Welle survey points to Oro
Just one week before the grand final of the 53 Eurovision Song Contest and polls and surveys are in full swing Europe-wide. German World service, Deutsche Welle (DW), conducted their own survey in collaboration with journalists from other German and Swiss media as well as esctoday.com.
Jelena Tomasevic, the Serbian representantive this year has won the DW survey, receiving points from almost every member of the international jury. "Besides Serbia other favourites in this survey that DW (also a member of EBU) conducted are Croatia, Ukraine, Belgium and Ireland", Nebojsa Jakovljevic, DW Eurovision reporter says. "Despite of comments that Jelena´s song sounds too similar to Serbian song from years before, most of the voters stated that Oro is one of the best songs this time as well, commented many of the participating journalists."
Among the journalists who took part in this survey is Jan Feddersen, NDR Reporter and author of the well know book about Eurovision Song Contest "One Song could be a Bridge"(Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein in German). Jan gave 12 to Belgium. But he also voted for Serbia.
Other favourites for the Big Final besides those known ones are Portugal, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Norway, Armenia, Iceland and Moldova. The hosts of some special DW Radio shows dedicated to this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, Sasa Bojic and Nebojsa Jakovljevic voted as well. They gave their twelve points to Bulgaria and Ukraine.
Nebojsa Jakovljevic said: "For some reason I believe that this year some faster and more dynamic song will win. But you have to have in mind that more then a half of Eurovision viewers always have two or three favourites every year. So who is going to win their 12 points is decided after the live performance. That counts most. In most of the cases singing and music production are not the crucial arguments. Marija Serifovic won cause of amazingly emotional performance and message she sent. If the Eurovision viewers decide to support „those "funny songs" we have almost every year now, they are going to vote for Belgium or Ireland. Ana Lorak is my favourite, because I would personally vote for the songs that have potential to be great mainstream Hits after the show. On the other hand, Bulgaria is already a hit in US for example and I know some radio stations in France and UK that are having the song „DJ, Take Me Away" on their Playlists".

@ David:
Oh yes, I've already seen it
Vania is a godess, all she needs to impress is her voice and her natural charm, something which is very rare among this year's Eurovision participants!
Thanks Sasa Bojic and Nebojsa Jakovljevic for the 12 points

"DJ Take Me Away" is growing on me big time. It's one of this year's most contemporary and trendy songs. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a big international hit with no reference whatsoever to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Out of all the selected songs of those journalists, it's definitely "Oro".
If my number one Vania from Portugal doesn't win, I sincerely hope it will be Jelena. Serbia should win the contest twice before some Schlager or R'n'B- crap wins!
NICOSIA 2009!!!!
GO CYPRUS!!
