I insist that this song wasn't the best one in the contest. The song of Greece was even better.
@ Siou x - You stole my words! I agree with everything you wrote. Lordi gave the ESC the necessary shock! We'd had just about enough of dance rubbish. Dima is a great winner - unlike many past ones.
@ blue alibi
I knew what you meant and I tried to tell you that it's not a matter of small countries-big countries but a matter of how much the public like a song and/or VOTE for the song. I firmly believe that if a song appeals to THAT MANY PEOPLE, it will gather points both from western and eastern and southern and scandivanian Europe.
This year, I don't think any song stood out that much or, if you like, many songs stood out. Believe had the extra help of Dima's presence, so it won.
he looked so surprised with his cheeky smile, each time he got the 12 points from ex soviets countries. if he was surprised we were not. but deep down in his heart he was expecting it.
in 2006 his song wasn't the best either. I honestly didn't really get believe until eurovision night were everything looked fantastic and it was a deserved winner even though the majority of the big votes were taken from ex ussr countries
i just wonder what the public reaction will be in ireland - indifference?

very funny...... but iam sure u know wot i mean......
at least be honest with ur self
Bless him...i think we have the new Carola before us:
"Chris: When you shirt fell off during your performance, was that intentional or an accident? You've a great body, do you work out much?
Dima Bilan: The stage is my gym! I rehearsed a lot in different shirts but this one fell off because of emotion that were tearing me apart! And now I have this shirt with me. It's my lucky charm"
I think you have a to be an Irish resendent to sumbit a question because I've tried to dubmit a question, and it simply would let me.
@Allan A.:
You´re right! People simply don´t vote. Laziness costs us dearly.
''wot would have happened if the winning song represented portugal? malta? cyprus? belguim? the netherlands? ireland? uk? andorra? etc''
Well, for a song to win it has to be in the final you know. And most of those songs didn't even make it past the semi. And not because of eastern voting but because people just didn't like them enough. Simple.
Super Espabila:
homophobia in Russia? Are u sure?
And OMG that Russian immigrants did it again LOL
Juries back! Sweden would have won!
blue alibi:
If Andorra or Cyprus had won, we would have a tiny country winner & that would be cool.
i wonder............
wot would have happened if the winning song represented portugal? malta? cyprus? belguim? the netherlands? ireland? uk? andorra? etc....
some things cant be more obvious in life no??
Oh and another thing. Last year, Greece had given the winner Serbia 4 points and Cyprus had given them 3 points! So apparently we like Believing much more since we gave it 7 points and Cyprus 8.
''btw, why didn't Greece and Cyprus gave 12 to Russia, but only 7?? because there were better songs(like Armenia)!!''
Cyprus always gives 12 points to Greece. As for Greece, yes, the Armenian song was very much liked over here. And by the way, that's a real weak argument..is there a rule that the country where Greece gives 12 points has to be the winner?
LOL
Sorry mates, but there is no way i am going to Moscow next year...
Unless, of course, they really resolve their OPEN homophobia.
I am clear about that.

i agree, with you!!
and that's what i'm saying, he deserved to win more in 2006 than now, because this year it wasn't the best song!!
if you compare "believe" to previous winnners, it's the worst....
also, for god's sake, Ruslana had everything, cool personality as well, she was friendly, no bodyguards!!
and she got "gold" in greece, and she got 280 points from only 36 countries, and the song became a hit, and it wasn't because of the show, for god's sake, people got the album because of the eurovision show?
also, if you know 10 countries are going to give 10's and 12's to Russia how the h** can it not be a favorite for winning....?
btw, why didn't Greece and Cyprus gave 12 to Russia, but only 7?? because there were better songs(like Armenia)!!
Ruslana got 10's ehehehehh
When will u ppl quit whining about diaspora voting?!!!
The way u talk about diaspora here it seems like Turks dominate Germany, Armenians have replaced the native population in Belgium, Netherlands and France and Greek ppl count 4 50% of all of the Western European countries... get really ppl... the immigrants don`t count 4 more than 3-15%max of any western European country (and even then it`s not just a single group, but ppl from many countries most of them outside of Europe)
so if the minority can do it so can u... just stop whining, stop being cheap and if u really wanna make a change start watching, start caring and use ur money 2 vote, VOTE 4 Christ sake instead of coming and crying here about the mean mean immigrants that have taken over ur countries and r outvoting u
molitva last year was 100times better than believe but also i like believe too.
after all i can write just this:
dima i hope ur song will make a big succes all round the world and u will never come back to eurovision.
but im sure he is going to come back. his song is not strong ballad and maybe im like a stone but believe can touch my soul at all. maybe i dont believe enough in his song LOL
GOD LOCK DIMA! wish u all the best in ur life!
btw some people connected his name with some kind of drugs - can someone explain me why? is it just a gossip or what?
I agree with people that his song this year wasn't as brilliant as in 2006- but I like DIma- and so I'm pleased for both Russia and Dima that he won!
Well done to everybody in the Russian Deligation- and I hope that Moscow 2009 will as great as Belgrade 2008 (IMO Belgrade was amazing)
I want to hear "Believe" in Russian because his English accent sucks a lot! (impassibal! LOL)
When the LORDI monster rockers WON at the ESC 2006 ATHENS,
Dima's placing was 2nd runner-up .... a.k.a the No.1 Loser ...
he thought he would try again, this year, to reap the "benefits" of
whatever... ESC fan base he had left from 2006??? Hmmm!
(... but if Dima wanted to compete SO BAD(!!) and sing in English (again!!),
he should have worked on his ... IMPOSSIBLY BAD English accent)
I know he's russian, but he cannot sing OR speak
well in English. The sad news is he that is NOT even trying.
Did anyone really want to see his consistently ... SOUR face
,
....experience his ARROGANT attitude
and watch that ... ANGRY
vein
on his neck ready to pop open at any moment?
Hey, if russian woman think Dima is sexy
(!!?!), it is fine,
but I certainly cannot see it.
"Never let you go" (2006) (FACT: The stage show with the white
piano and the rose petals with the ballerina inside was the sole
concept of a GREEK man (choreographer/director), Fokas
Evangelinos
)
Since March 2008, when I first heard this song,
I had written comments that it was nothing special and
was a typical run-of-the-mill SONG made ... watchable because
that same (!!) GREEK MAN (Fokas Evangelinos was also behind the
... 2008 concept of Dima's show (skater, violinist, candle and especially the
KNEELING LIKE ANNA VISSI
(Greece 2006) WHILE SINGING routine, etc).
This year ... the WRONG SONG won.
Great - good luck to Dima and let's hope for a strong ESC 2009 !
Lucian:
In the final there was BIG interest in Spain so i think thousands of Spaniards voted. On the other hand, in the semifinal there wasn't interest because Spain didn't take part. Gisela's single is on Spanish charts!
Diva Belan doesn't speak English...how will he communicate in Ireland? Damp!
