@ALMILA

I'm so glad that you liked it!!! ;) ;)

If you like C:REAL you will def. like ''RAINING PLEASURE'' & ''MATISSE'' too...

They are some of the most famous INTERNATIONAL Greek groups!
Their lyrics are solely in English though....

Also,check for MARSHEAUX!!!

They are so many talented Greek groups & artists...but the music market is so limited to back them up...

P.S: The RMX of ''with or without'' has a Swedish sound (L)

Greece has really sent some very good entries through the years but before the televoting era its entries did not have any chance of scoring really high, since it was the time when the typical western "big" countries shared the high points amng them and turkey, greece and other outsiders had no chance of winning..that was the period also when irland would win with boring wanna be ballads..after the televoting era, the Greek enries became popular and appreciated across Europe and ERT(the national broadcaster) takes the contest very seriously and tries to bring a good show on the stage..and its efforts are quite often rewarded..are you getting a bit jealous guys?? :-)

the choreographer of Ani Lorak was a Greek man who was responsible for the choreography of Helena Paparizou (2005) & Sakis Rouvas (2004). I read it somewhere. But to be honest, i wasn;t impressed by Ani at all. But anyway!

Its true that eastern countries are sending better entries & they take it seriously

Some of these comments seem rather extreme. Humble opinions they may be, but am I the only one that thinks that all of the greek entries for the last 4 or 5 years have been the same song over and over again? I just don't get it and was completely amazed when this years entry started to gain all of the votes it did. I am not a fan of Dima's oscar-winning effort this year but felt there were much better songs than both of these two, not least the Ukraine entry - professional, slick and with the best coreography by miles!

And although being from the UK, I really feel that the Eastern European countries are entering much better songs than the West generally so deserve to be doing well, this year's winner aside, unfortunately.

Also,bear in mind that MAD TV was a brand new tv-station back then...

[for at least 5 yrs] MAD has become the international Greek version of MTV...

pl say that it will be the ''rival'' of the official MTVGREECE!

Anoixi was by far the best song we ever sent to the ESC. I wish we would still send good songs in the greek language and I wouldn't care even if we came last. ESC for me isn't about winning.

OMG I can;t stand those who claim that Greece gets votes because of Greeks/Cypriots in some EU countries(you mentioned Spain that rarely gives high pts to greece). This is a lie. If it was a true, Cyprus wouldn't have struggled to reach the final, as it happens every year. Also, Anna Vissi would have gotten 12pts from the UK or even Mando, Rakintzis and don't forget the 1998 entry!
And the UK is a big countries that millions of people watch the show every year. Kalomira proved that she deserved the douze pointe as she entered the UK Top 75 singles chart based on downloads alone & she was the only one to do that.
Besides, Greece was the best in 2004/2005/2008. It's not weird that Greece passed the 200pts those years! The reason was simple! Greek entries ruled those years & Europeans voted for them.

Congrats Kalomira for "Secret combination"! The real winner!
I can't wait to purchase your new album! The samples i heard were gr8!

After Greece's successful representative won 3rd place
with her SLEEK, SEXY and ENERGETIC performance,
(she ranked ...No. 1 in BOTH Semifinals)
people seem to LOVE the lovely, bubbly and talented
KALOMIRA'S (L) "Secret Combination".

This SONG had hit potential from the very beginning
(pre-ESC period)!!! Yes, I could tell by your comments ... ;)

Fortunately, her new album has been released and her
...new fans :) are now enjoying her MUSIC!!!!

@Dan,

Those were the days my friend. Anixi is for me together with another Greek entry To dhiko su asteri (Mariana), are two of my absolute favorites of all time. I even like the Greek entry from 1985, man with a beard, iasume or something....

@GEEOH

You have to listen to : ''Mathema Solfez''(1977-which was the favorite to win,back then...)

''Anixi''(1991-imo one of the most underrated entries in ESC history & trully one of the BEST Greek eurosongs)

''Stop''(in the 80's,a very modern entry)
&
''Charlie Chaplin''(in the 70's!Tania Tsanaklidou - who was the performer of the Greek entry - does the main vocals for various Greek electronic tracks now... ;) ;)

Dan,

My friend, I am not bitter towards the Greek song. It's a cheap, good feeling song, I am more biiter about the voting. You say it's only neighbourvoting that can make the difference. I can assure you that's NOT the case. The diaspora is just as important. Look countries like Belgium, France, Netherlands, Switserland, would not give every year 10 and 12 to Armenia and Turkey.... That pure immigrants voting in. Same for UK, when we were watching it, in my appartment there were about 12 Greeks, like I said my partner is Greek, all of them were voting non stop for their home country. I mean at least 15-20 times each. That's 1 house where at least 200 votes already went to Greece.... multiply this with the huge amount of Greeks and Cypriots all over Germany, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, etc.... and the calculation is quickly made....

I loved all the greek entries starting 2001 (Antique, Michalis Rakintzis, Mando, Sakis, Helena, Anna, Sarbel, of course Kalomoira)...My favourite country in ESC. Never disappointed me. Always good & catchy songs, and well prepaired National Selection, with much profesnionalism and class. Well done, Kalomoira! 12 well-deserved points from Romania this year (yeah, we gave 12 p to my favourite) :D :D :D
