DannyT:
Cool Vibes was one of the best songs in 2005 but the perfomance was a let down. Israel, Romania & Greece ruled in the final of 2005 but anyway.
I'd love to see Russia winning in 2007 because they deserved it (they even got pts from the UK!!) but not this year!

-- You must be from a mirror universe, buddy. Last time I checked, Russia was first, while your country was last. 38 out of 43 countries voted for Russia, while only 2 countries voted for you. Stop embarrassing yourself.
I'm not very patriotic when it comes to music, if I don't like a song, I don't care what country it's from, even if it's my own.
Football is a different story though!
LOL
@ mina
You are no patriot lol
I loved Ireland's entry this year but I can happily admit to our awful entries 2001, 2004 and 2007 spring to mind right away!
@ mina
I loved Greece's entry in 2005 but for me Cool Vibes was just too excellent to describe!
I see you like a lot of the Irish winners though so maybe are taste isn't so different except that Celine Dion song - I hate that one
I used to love Irish entries up until some point. And about 2005 (and I hope other Greeks don't get mad with me...lol) I didn't like our song and I was surprised it won. I love Elena, but I would never vote for that song.
Danny,
it's true, I took a look at your favourites in your profile and I disagree with most of them..lol
However, I did find one more song I liked too..cool vibes!
If I had my way last year, Hungary would have won, I loved that song!
@ mina
I find it weird when we agree
I loved Magdi's performance last year. It was so sincere and full of emotion, and she has probably got one of the best voices ever to sing at Eurovision!
I didn't like Tatu either. Come to think of it, the only Russian entries I liked in eurovision were Dima's.
@ BURR
All that tatu brought to Eurovision in 2003 was that they had one successful song and potential lesbianism. They couldn't sing a note in tune if it was to save their life.
I thought Serebro were great, in fact I would have been happy had they won, although I admit that their live performance wasn't amazing, but it was pretty awesome!!
@ mina
I thought Serebro were great - very contemporary song, very good looking girls and I have to disagree with Jonny K (sorry!) cos I thought they give a fantastic performance, confident and a standout without resorting to any unnecessary gimmicks. They just looked like they were the headline act.
If I had my way last year Russia would have won by a mile last year with Hungary second and Sweden third!
Danny,
you really liked Serebro? I hated that song.
LOL
@ marc x
I would be the first person to tell BURR he is writing absolute shite cos he does - an awful lot, in fact he doesn't stop writing shite, he's a knob but Russia have sent some great entries including Dima's this year but especially Serebro last year. I won't have anything bad said bout those girls!
Britain's Got Talent was excellent too
BURR:
a) Find a better translating website!!! I can't understand what you're saying!!!
b) Stop being racist towards Americans and Greek-Americans
c) Get a life!!!!
@ The day uk sends a talent to ESC i'll let you know in person!!!
@ Mina
When Soneone hatea a sone like Kalomira's
they just say so
American greek makes me vomit!!!
@Burr,
The day that Russia sent some talent to Eurovision we will let you know ok. You guys are the laughing stock of the contest....
@ Jonny K [46883]
"britains got talent"..
You have such a programme?
Don't make me laugh!!!
I espescially like those hidious Russian haircreations. That skater looks like something out of the Middle Ages.... Mina reason why we (UK) gave a 12 to Greece and not to Russian...simple, there are way more Greeks and Cypriots in UK than Russians.... Eurovision, what a joke
@ Jonny K [46883]
I imagine Javine here
Mina Carnation:
Yeah, compared to Greece etc, our viewing figures aren't that great. However on average, a peak time tv programme in the UK attracts 7-8 million viewers, so eurovision gets solid peak-time viewing figures.
Also this year our figures were lower than normal because there was the programme "britains got talent" on our other major channel (itv1), which attracted 10-12 million viewers, so eurovision did very well to get 7 milion viewers!
Also "7 million" is an average of the whole evening. If we look at a break-down of the viewers, the period of 10-11pm attracted over 10 million viewers.
Mina Carnation:
Oh sorry I mis-understood you!
And yes, I realise that everything isn't black and white when it comes to voting. We can't generalise that because there is 150,000 Russians living in the UK, they will vote massively in eurovision. Maybe Russians in the UK don't tend to vote so patriotically when it comes to eurovision, I don't know?
What we have to remember is that the UK never really gives high points to Russia anyway, we only gave them a point in 2006 and before that I can't remember the last time we voted for them!
Anyway, I have to admit I was a little surprised we didn't give a point to Russia, because it is quite a "modern" song that would fit in the UK charts quite nicely.
(sorry for double post)
By the way, not so many people in the Uk watched the final. Only 7,000,000 out of 60,000,000. I wouldn't call that ''viewing figures for the UK are very high''...compare it to 6,000,000 Greeks out 11,000,000. Now, that's a high viewing figure.
''Anyway, are you suggesting that the BBC may have blocked Russian votes, that they are corrupted??? ''
Of course not! I'm suggesting that things aren't black and white when it comes to diaspora, as some people in here are trying to make them seem. I'm saying that IF the natives vote, immgrants can only give a few points to their home country, or none at all, just like Russians (and 150,000 Russians isn't a small number) in the Uk.
