Final decision end of the year

San Marino: " We have good hopes to return"

San Marino's first attempt at the Eurovision Song cannot be called a success exactly with Miodio finishing last in the first semi final but the Sammarinese broadcaster will be evaluating the situation and will be announcing their final decision before the end of this year.

Dima Bilan visited the tiny European state recently during the Eurovision Winner's tour and was welcomed by the Minister of Youth. During the meeting the Sammarinese Minister revealed that no decision has been made yet on whether the country will return to the Eurovision Song Contest next year: "We have good hopes to return to the Eurovision Song Contest," the Minister said. "San Marino TV will now evaluate their first ever Eurovision Song Contest adventure, and a final decision will be taken before the end of the year." eurovision.tv reports.

Miodio and their Complice was my second favorite entry in Eurovision 2008(after Divine) .
But to be objective i think it deserved no place in the top 10 of the first semi final . Miodio and their wonderful modern song would deserve a top 5 result in a merely song contest , not in a Eurovision song contest ...!

I hope next year , San Marino sends a big Italian Star like Eros Ramazzotti . This is just my hope tho...!!!!

Blunt is touring Europe at the moment but his latest album failed to match(or even produce hit singles) the success of the previous one. But he's already popular so i don't see the reason to take part in a contest that immigrants vote for their homelands.

I'd love to see Adele, Mika for the Uk but this adorable article is for San Marino :P

Jonny K:
James Blunt would be just great :) Try to persuade him! I read that he will be touring Europe now, starting in Reykjavik tomorrow.

Mina Carnation:
I think James Blunt will be in Greece next week.

Mina Carnation, yeah James Blunt would be great, but I doubt he would be interested in eurovision, his career is quite big enough already, however I haven't heard much of him recently . . . . so maybe eurovision could revive his career.

Stockholm Calling:
Oh yeah, I forgot bagpipes!! :)

Please San Marino, come back next year. I've liked "Complice" since the first time I heard it, top 5 for me in the semi. It's a shame that this beautiful song ended up last.

(David Beckham, teletubbies, Elton John) and bagpipes.

I have to agree with what a lot of people are saying. I always like Miodio's song before the contest but on the night I thought it was excellent and I am really disappointed for San Marino that they came last because they didn't deserve it.

Shows the disadvantage that some credibility does to an act at Eurovision - just ask Sebastien Tellier

Any chance to send James Blunt? I suppose he wouldn't be interested in eurovision but I love that guy.

If David Beckham just stands next to the Uk singer in the next ESC, I guarantee you'll win. And he won't even have to dance or anything..just stand there.
lol

:) well all 12points will go to UK for sure... especially if Elton John will be playing at the piano and the teletubbies will be standing behind it :)

I first listened to the song in the semifinal and i liked it a lot!! OF course it got my vote :-)

Go San Marino! Don't give up! Andorra was 12th in the "tough" semifinal in 2007!

ps: hope they do something & let televoting decide!

''And I really really hope San Marino come back next year, because hopefully the UK can rely on them for a few points in the future''

LOL, good point Jonny.

I really like complice now. When it was first revealed I wasn't a big fan, but now I love it. :D Maybe that was the problem on the night, the song doesn't grow on you immediatly with just one play, but over time it does, however most of the viewers only saw it once :( Shame

And I really really hope San Marino come back next year, because hopefully the UK can rely on them for a few points in the future! :)

San Marino should really send L'Aura! :)

Well, it was certainly one of the best songs of this ESC (if perhaps with somewhat crappy lyrics). To me such a thing a greater success than just showing up and getting points from people who don't vote for songs but have other criteria.

How on earth they came last in the 1st semi I don't know. Before the contest this was one of my favourites, and it still is now! I hope they don't let it discourage them and come back, and set a good example to my country (the UK) not to complain bitterly and come up with pathetic excuses for not doing well.
