Julio Iglesias in Belgrade

The internationally acclaimed Spanish artist Julio Iglesias who is among the world's most sought after singers gave a concert to an audience of 7000 fans at this year's Eurovision Song Contest venue, the Beogradska Arena on Monday the 9th of June. Julio Iglesias represented Spain at the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest in Amsterdam with the song Gwendolyne, thus achieving a 4th place.

Julio Iglesias was in the beautiful Serbian Capital few days back where he gave a concert, thus treating the Serbian audience with his romantic and charismatic voice. He sang several of his all time hits such as Nathalie, Manuela, Hey!, Crazy and Abrázame. Around 7,000 people turned up to listen to the world famous Spanish artist.

Julio is currently on his World tour. He will be next visiting next year's Eurovision Song Contest host country Russia, where he will be giving concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Yekaterinburg. Followed by concerts in Romania, Finland in July, whilst in August he will be visiting his home country Spain where a series of concerts are lined up in Malaga, Cadiz, Tenerife and Girona.

Below you can find the schedule for Russia:

  • 7:00pm Tuesday 17th June. Kremlin Palace, Moscow.
  • 7:00pm Thursday 19th June. Ice Stadium, St. Petersburg.
  • Sunday 22nd June. Tatneft Stadium, Kazan.
  • 7:00pm Tuesday 24th June. Kosmos Hall, Yekaterinburg.

This year's Eurovision venue the Beogradska Arena will be also welcoming Lenny Kravitz who will be giving a massive concert on the 24th of July. "Gnedolywn" was one of his best songs ever..actually it is the only song of him that I would ever willingly hear. It is a pitty it finished only 4th, although he was a big favourite back then.but i guess that is because he performed the song very nervously. Anhyway I have never liked netheir hi or his son, enrique Iglesias..hmm i got an idea..what if he would represent Andorra or Spain? I see big chances, if he does for both countries to win(i mean with the son of course)

This article must be the most tenuous link ever to ESC. Belgrade has once hosted the show and Julio entered it 800 years ago when he had someone else's teeth and with a song he never performs.

Night Elf

No Madonna is not going to Belgrade - someone has told her about the standard of the hotel breakfasts, obviously. I have never been anywhere where you could bounce a fried egg off three walls and it still kept moving - but Belgrade was the place.

@ Night Elf: I can assure you the last minute negotiations are still taking place. It may come to nothing (after all, both Belgrade and Zagreb have been outbidded in financial terms, that's why she's coming to Budva) - but it still isn't known with absolute certainty whether or not Madge will be strutting her stuff at Usce ;)

Julia (L) Iglesias = a former football player-nobody-remembers-who-turned-into-a-successful int'l singer. He has a smooth voice and sings romantic love songs of a different era in English with a nice foreign accent. He is so suave and sexy.

Alex,
if Spain sent Enrique, they would win for sure. But I don't think he'd be interested in ESC.

Surely they can fit way way more than 7000 people into Belgrade Arena??? They managed to fit 15000 in with that huge eurovision stage!! :)

Also well done to Iglesias for trying to sing the Serbian "Tamo daleko" song (a national song) completely in Serbian. He got many standing ovations in the arena. Also the Police and Sting are singing on June 24th in Belgrade.

@ Florian. The Arena is completely differently set up for concerts then it was for Eurovision so the capacity is completely different.

Beogradska Arena must have looked very empty with only 7000 people being at his concert.

Listen guys I have been told that Mia Rose is going to represent Portugal in the next eurovision song contest...I´m so excited cause I love her...she is so nice...I now know that she will make some musics with other compousers and then the public will dicide wich one is the best!

Mia Rose is the stage name of Maria Antonia Sampaio Rosa, an English/Portuguese singer-songwriter who rose to fame through the popular video sharing website youtube.
