In the role of Mary Magdalene
Portugal: Anabela in 'Jesus Christ Superstar'
After playing the part of Maria in The Sound of Music for almost two years, Anabela started recently in the role of Mary Magdalene in the rock opera which can be seen at Teatro Politeama in Lisbon. Anabela keeps on adding important roles to her career in the area of musical plays.
The plot was written by Tim Rice and the music was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It tells the story of the last weeks of Jesus' life and his relation with Judas. Presented for the first time in 1970, in New York, the play has been adapted in over two dozen countries. Responsible for the adaptation in Portuguese is Filipe La Féria who has had hit after hit with his adaptations and original musicals. Anabela has been working with him for almost a decade now.
Anabela sung for Portugal back in 1993, in Milstreet, the song A cidade (até ser dia) and ranked 10th place overall.

Yes, I think Ola will be perfect for the role 
Btw, in the first edition of JCS in Gothenburg in 1970 Agnetha Fältskog of ABBA played the role of Mary Magdalene and when I saw JCS in Stockholm a few years ago Martin Stenmarck (ESC 2005) was Jesus. He was very good.
@ Stockholm calling - WOW, Ola playing the role of Jesus in JCS??? I wish I could be there. I'd love to see and hear him in this wonderful musical. Good luck Ola and good luck Anabela! People here seem to think that singers "resign themselves" to musicals when they have no more success in the charts, but it isn't actually like that - It takes a lot more than what we can think to play a role in a musical! You have to be an excellent singer, a good actor and you have to learn to dance too - not that easy, is it?
i totally agree with cristina theatre stars have far superior voices to many recording stars, anyone can sound good on a record but it takes real talent to be able to perform perfectly 8 shows a week

"JCS" will be staged in Malmö Sweden too as from November next. Ola Salo of The Ark will play the role of Jesus. The tickets sold out in no time (but I managed to get tickets for January). Ola is now translating the lyrics into Swedish.
